Summary: Freaking loud! 2008-06-15
Comment: This horn is very loud. It will get you noticed and maybe save you from an accident. It mounted very easily on my '05 Suzuki C-90 using the stock horn mounting bracket. The chrome is a nice added touch. If you're looking for a loud horn that is easy to install, this is it!

Summary: Stebel ROCKS! 2008-05-04
Comment: This horn could save your life. It is not as loud as I expected so I took one star away from them. But, make no mistake... THIS HORN IS WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY LOUD. People in cars with the radio on WILL HEAR YOU. 139dB has been equated to a jet engine. The horn is not that loud. Well worth $50, though. Pretty easy to install, too.
Another reviewer claims it is 4X quieter than advertised and that Stebel ads are misleading. That makes it seem worse than it is. I agree with him that Stebel needs to measure their sound pressure according to industry standards. On the other hand there is much debate about the correlation between decibels and "loudness" perception. Some say the difference between 100dB and 110dB seems like 10% louder.
I would not say this horn is 4X quieter than I expected. I would say it is about 20% quieter than I expected.

Summary: Good product, but some misleading advertising 2008-02-06
Comment: I added this horn to my new touring motorcycle in addition to the factory horn. The manufacturer advertises 139 dB for this product, but if you go to the manufacturer's site and search the fine print, it was measured at 4 inches. Normally, audio products are measured at a distance of 1 meter, not 4 inches.
If you measure this horn at the canonical 1 meter, it is @ 120 dB.
10dB difference is perceived by the human ear as being 2X as loud. 20dB difference would be perceived by the human ear as being 4X as loud. The difference between 139dB and 120dB would be perceived @ 4X as loud, but in this case, it is @ 4X quieter than what was advertised using standard measuring techniques.
My factory horn is a lower frequency than the 2 higher frequencies in this horn, so the combination made a 3 tone horn. The combination of the factory and aftermarket horn makes a notable difference from the stock, but not what I figured I would get by the 139 dB claims.
