For mothers who are looking for a more affordable alternative to the higher end "professional" quality breast pumps, the Avent Via Isis is a convenient, inexpensive manual option that is clinically proven to be as effective as electric pumps. The pump naturally imitates a baby's suckling to produce fast let-down, and includes five 6-ounce base containers and lids (pre-sterilized), two adaptors, two silicone newborn nipples, two nipple travel packs, and spare parts. The bases can be re-sterilized up to three times before disposing. The system is lightweight and portable. It may not be the ideal choice for mothers who are working full-time out of the house, but for those who need to pump a few times a day, it's an easy-to-use, hygienic, efficient pump. Comment: THe pump now comes with extra parts that are easily lost. Good improvement over the one I bought 3 years ago. Great inexpensive pump. No noise.

Summary: My wife likes this breast pump 2007-09-25
Comment: My wife used the old version of the avent breast pump and now that we are having another baby she bought this one with confidence because the product it's excellent, plus the kit that comes with the pump it's great and you won't need more feeding bottles if you are preparing for breastfeeding. You can store the milk in the refrigerator and in the freezer to preserve it even more.

Summary: This is a great manual pump! 2007-08-26
Comment: I loved my electric pump but this one was GREAT to keep in the diaper bag, or in the car with us on a very long drive to a family reunion. The petals do help with a great let down, and you don't have to keep pumping. Once you have a letdown, you can just hold the trigger halfway in and the steam stays steady! No sore hands with this one. It is a 2 handed job though. ;)

Comment: I have used this pump with two children and plan to get a new one for my third. With my first child, I was able to use this pump to supply 75% of his milk for over 5 months (until going back to work full time). I was unable to nurse, but I had no trouble with this pump. With my second child, I was able to nurse, but needed to use a pump when I went back to work . I tried an electric pump thinking it would be more efficient and finally had to go back to the Avent hand pump. To be fair, the electric pump was not a great one -- I could not afford to spend the money necessary. Now expecting my third child, I plan to get another Avent Isis. I found it efficient and painless. The only draw back with frequent use is that the various pieces to wear out. However, I do not regret buying this pump.

Summary: Avent Isis breast pump 2006-08-27
Comment: This is a great pump. I bought it for my daughter and she absolutely loves it. She contemplated getting an electric, but I told her to try this first. Talk about a great deal. We saved money and it works great.
I would recommend this to any mom.
