As the best way to prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), the SIDS Alliance, the Surgeon General, and the American Academy of Pediatrics have recommended that healthy babies be put to sleep on their backs. By providing soft yet supportive padding around a newborn's body, this Back to Sleep Positioner is designed to keep your baby from rolling over onto her stomach while she sleeps. The three-piece positioner is quite simple in design: two 9-inch foam pads with Velcro strips on one side attach to a 12-by-14-inch Velcro-compatible mat. After placing the mat in your bassinet, crib, or cradle, you can position the two pads on either side of baby, thus creating a snug wedge that limits movement and prevents rollovers. Made with spongy, fire-retardant polyurethane foam, the mat is covered in a soft polyester and cotton blend fabric while the two pads have removable 100 percent cotton covers. Comment: This positioner is perfect for its purpose. One thing to keep in mind, the pad is not waterproof so I recommend placing a waterproof lap pad underneath.
