Summary: Baby responded positively to classical music 2008-05-26
Comment: I had this product for my three year old daughter. I am pregnant again, so I plan to purchase it again. I played classical music for her in the womb. When she was born, the classical music would soothe her. This was especially true in the car. Sometimes she hated her car seat, but within a couple of minutes of Lullaby CD, she was peaceful.
My three year old is very bright. Was it classical music or her destiny, who knows?
I absolutely NEVER heard her heart beat with this product, which was the main reason I purchased the product. This time, I know there is a much important benefit than trying to hear the heartbeat.

Summary: Is NOT Reliable As A Fetal Heart Monitor 2008-04-16
Comment: We eagerly purchased this product as it was far less expensive than the other fetal heart monitors on the market. However, we should have saved our money, and invested in a slightly more expensive (and working!) monitor the first time around.
As many other reviewers have said, this monitor does not work to reliably pick up the fetal heartbeat. It easily picks up the MOTHER'S heartbeat - as well as many other in-utero sounds (kicks, tumbles, hiccups) - but not the fetal heartbeat. We tried it all thru the 3rd trimester with no luck. We also tried it with 2 other pregnant friends in their 3rd trimester (also did not work). One friend said she got it to work...we were excited...went to check it out and found that she instead was mistaking her OWN heartbeat for the baby's...
It is good if you want to use it only to (1) hear sounds other than the heartbeat - such as movement or (2) record the mother's heartbeat or voice for the baby after birth. But as far as a fetal heart monitor, it is useless.
Instead, we purchased the AngelSounds Doppler and that item works WONDERFULLY from the very beginning. The baby's heartbeat can be easily heard and clearly recorded. We would recommend that product over this one.

Summary: not worth the money 2007-10-15
Comment: possibly the worst product ever. i'm basing this on 2 fundamental ideas. 1) it does not work - we've had the product for awhile now and you can't hear the baby's heart beat. and not becuase we are not doing it right. seriously does not work. i have tried everything. if you're going to sell a product, i think that there should be a possibility of it working. it turns on and off and it picks up my heart beat, and it picks up the sounds of everything else around, but not the baby. 2) and worse, this product markets to the mothers to be of this world that are already emotional. seriouly, this product should be illegal to sell.

Summary: My opinion 2007-04-08
Comment: I was happy when this product arrived. It arrived in great time. I like the fact that it runs on a 9v battery and has the option of using two head sets. It states that it should be used in the last trimester, I am now 7 months pregnant and it still wont pick up my babys heart beat. I have even went to my appointmets with it thinking I am using it wrong. It will pick up my heart beat, but not the babys. I can't say it doesnt work because every woman is diffrent but it hasnt worked for me and as I mentioned it says to use it in your LAST trimester. The greatest thing about this is the cd's I play them for the baby every now and then.

Comment: I read the many reviews of this device that DIDN'T come with the fetal speakers; that is, the set with only the fetal heartbeat listening device and more often than not, users just couldn't get the hang of finding their baby's heartbeat.
I bought this set in particular because my husband wanted an opportunity to speak to the baby as soon as her hearing developed and for that, this is I think, a wonderful investment. Only this set comes with the fetal talker which allows you to read, talk and play music for your baby while still in the womb.
My husband and baby bonded wonderfully with this device. She would turn and kick in my tummy if my husband didn't start talking to her at about 9 PM, then quiet down and settle in about a minute or so after he started speaking. I also used this to play music for her like Mozart and other lullabies, which is very convenient because after she was born, she responded positively to the same music again if she was being fussy. That, and the sound of my husband's voice.
I would reccommend this product more for the fetal talker than the actual listener because like I first mentioned, too many things depend on being able to hear your little bundle's heartbeat. But the speakers are great!
