Product Review
Product Description

Hear, record and e-mail your unborn baby's heartbeat, kicks, and hiccups. How exciting to hear the sounds of your unborn baby's little kicks, soft hiccups, and rapidly beating heart in the privacy of your own home. You should hear these sounds at the beginning of your third trimester.

What will her heartbeat sound like? Your baby's heart beats 140-170 times a minute and will sound like a rapidly galloping horse. Her hiccups will sound like 2 rapid drumbeats, and her kicks will sound like soft thuds. You will also hear the nutrients passing through the placenta. This will have a whooshing sound.

But don't just listen to these sounds share your joy. Included is a special recording cable so you can record your baby's sounds with your own recording device, e-mail your baby's sounds to family and friends and record your own heartbeat to soothe your newborn baby.

The Prenatal Heart Listener includes a Fetal Monitor, 1 Headset and a special Recording Cable. It requires one 9-volt battery (not included).

Summary: Not a doppler... 2008-06-04
Comment: I got this product when I was pregnant with my second child, because I thought it would be nice to hear the baby's heartbeat in between prenatal visits. It's important to note that it is NOT a doppler like used in the doctor's office, but more of an amplifier, like a stethoscope. It takes some patience, but I was able to find the heartbeat every time I tried past 28 weeks. Don't even try before then! Just read the directions and get your expectations in check. I was pleased with the results, and my family and friends enjoyed hearing the heartbeat, too. And my two year old liked to listen to her own heartbeat!

Summary: This product does NOT work! It's a WASTE of money!!!!!! 2007-12-20
Comment: I bought this item because I thought it would be fun for my husband and I to be able to hear our baby's heartbeat in between OB visits. This product has never been able to pick up any meaningful sounds and I am an RN w/ ultrasound experience. I have practiced correct placement, have tried moving it all around my belly and have been very patient - trying it over several weeks (gestational week 28 to 39) and NOTHING! I should have read more reviews about this product before purchasing it, admittedly on impulse. Take it from me, do not buy this product!

Summary: Don't buy. 2007-08-19
Comment: This thing , as everyone has said, does NOT work. When I was pregnant with my daughter ( now 3) we listened every week from week 20 on. Nothing but a muffled white noise sound, mixed with my breathing. I then began to wonder about the headphones and attached them to my CD player, and lo and behold, the headphones were muffled pretty badly. I never tried switching normal headphones onto the listener, though. The concept of this listener is pretty cool, and really useful. Too bad it's a piece of junk. Buy a Stethescope.

Summary: Don't waste your money 2007-07-06
Comment: This product doesn't work at all. I'm 8 months pregnant and my husband and I have been trying it every couple of weeks since I started my 3rd trimester only to have our eardrums blown out by any other little noise (distant passing cars, neighbor dog barking, our own breathing...). We have not heard our baby once.

Comment: We actually got this as a gift and were quite excited to use it only to find that it didn't work hardly at all. We thought maybe at first it was because it was early in the pregnancy and tried again and again as the pregnancy progressed. We are now over 7 months pregnant and still can't hear any heart beat. We definitely recommend saving your money on this item and instead of purchasing it, put it toward your insurance deductible.
