Summary: good value for the money 2008-07-03
Comment: We bought it at about $29, and it does exactly what we expected to do, at least for the money payed. Good sound; parent unit battery will last for about 3-4 hours; works over large distances (tested at 12 meters).
The only downside I can find is that it highly interfere with some mobile networks (Example: in Europe, with Orange), but it get noisy only when the phone rings.

Summary: Not a Great Choice 2008-04-16
Comment: I have 2 of these monitors. We received the first one as a shower gift and loved it. The sound quality was great. We didn't use the pre-recorded/music option, we just liked the lights and sound quality. It lasted approximately 4 months before it just stopped working for no apparent reason. I figured something must have happened to it (like it was a lemon), so I purchased another one and it lasted 2 1/2 months before it just stopped working. It was on and I could hear the baby fine, then all of a sudden, there was static. Nothing we have done for 2 days now has made it work. I have a back up monitor (Fisher Price Dual Private Connection) that we normally use for travel (because we aren't too happy with the sound quality) that we are using now, but I wouldn't recommend it either.

Summary: very good monitor for the price 2006-11-15
Comment: we bought this monitor because our fisher price sight and sound monitor had way too much static. this monitor works great!! hardly any static at all and i can hear every little movement my little one makes.
we havent used the feature that plays music or your voice, but im giving this monitor five stars anyway because it has worked so well for us so far.

Summary: works with static and loud clicking 2006-02-16
Comment: I bought this monitor based on the other reviews of this product but found that I was not getting a good night sleep because of it. The static sound can be decreased by turning the volume down and yet I could still hear my daughter when she awoke. I'm not a heavy sleeper so the volume being turned down was not really a problem but I will say that my old $16.00 monitor that I bought in 2001 has better sound quality without the constant static. The loud click that occurred without any apparent reason (unrelated to use of cordless phones, time of day with neighbors using phones, etc) was not affected by the volume being turned down and could not be decreased nor eliminated based on position within my home. My cellphone and cordless phones being turned off did not help with the clicking either. The clicking was loud enough to wake my husband who is deaf in one ear and could sleep through almost all alarm clocks, phones ringing, or children screaming in the house. So this did nothing for my ability to sleep through the night. I am returning this monitor because it seems silly to keep something that will wake me throughout the night when my daughter sleeps throughout the night. This one may work for other households but not for mine.

Summary: So far... so good 2006-02-08
Comment: We bought this to be our travel monitor but I may switch it to be the home one. I'm amazed at how light these monitors are! We have yet to use the auto feature where it plays music or a pre-recorded message when baby wakes, but the lightness and small size of these monitors alone won me over.
I'm only giving 4 stars now b/c we haven't used all the features.
