Built For Convenience
The SnugRide comes with a stay-in-car base, allowing the car seat to be quickly, conveniently installed and removed to double as an easy-to-use infant carrier. The stay-in-car base can be easily, securely installed using the car's seat belt or, if you have a newer-model vehicle, the LATCH system. An easy-to-read level indicator helps make sure that the seat is installed correctly.

Once the base is installed, simply snap the car seat into the base, and remove it with the push of a button to use it as a carrier. A sturdy handle makes it easy and safe to carry the carrier on your arm, and it makes transporting your fragile newborn and sleeping older infants all the easier. The SnugRide is also compatible with many Graco strollers; simply snap the seat out of your vehicle, into your stroller, and go.

Designed for Safety
With the SnugRide, you can be sure that your baby is riding in safe, protected comfort. The five-point harness, equipped with soft harness covers for extra comfort, keeps her secure, as does the specially designed, removable infant head and neck support, which is built in compatibility with the seat's safety design. EPS energy-absorbing foam adds extra protection, and a 180-degree adjustable canopy shields baby from sun and glare. Parents will especially appreciate that the removable seat cushion is machine washable.

About Graco
In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing. Acting on this inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While a half-century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on.

Summary: I miss the front pull tab tightener 2008-10-10
Comment: We had a similar model that has passed its expiration date, so replaced it with this one. Overall we like it, but the new rear-access cinch-up straps are a bit difficult to use. The older models had a single pull tab at the front (foot end) to tighten the straps. Otherwise no complaints, the pattern is cute and gender-neutral.

Summary: Its Ok but could be better. 2008-09-28
Comment: I got this car seat as a gift from my sister (and I'm grateful for it) but the fabric could be better. It feels like plastic, is not comfortable. Also the canopy does not extend enough to block the sun. It's not attached to the back of the car seat, so every time I extend it, the back side also moves! Its annoying... Looks beautiful, but I was expecting more from GRACO.

Summary: Like Canadian elections - Choosing from the mediocre 2008-09-22
Comment: I am a first time father. Having spent many hours looking in stores and reading reviews on infant car seats, my wife and I chose this one. Here is why:

Pros - it's light, the base attachment is similar to most others
- it fits into shopping carts; the Graco swing and the Graco strollers
- it has a Winnie the Pooh cover, it also cost only $80 (or $140 in Canada)
- it has the same safety rating as all the rest etc.
- the seat can used in another car without the base and attaches nicely

Cons
- The seat belt safety clip is stored under the babies right thigh. (yes, we couldn't believe it either, so we bought some high impact foam to fix it so it was more even and soft)
- The straps tightens from the rear of the seat
- The chest harness is hard to open for a mans fingers because they are to small and for a woman's fingers because it is stiff
- The plastic shell is bulky and a little cheap feeling
- The handle is not well designed like that of the Baby Trend or Evenflo

My wife and I wondered why some many of the seats looked and felt so similar and seems to have many of the same problems. Interestingly we noticed that even though there appear to be many different brands to choose from, there are in fact only two or three different manufacturing parent companies and the brands are kept to create the impression that a healthly competitive market exist. If you take the cover off most seats and infant seats you will find most of the same plastic shells. For example Eddie Bauer, Maxi-Cosi, Quinny, Cosco, and Safety 1st are all produced by the Dorel Juvenile Group.

- The comfiest seat we found was the Chicco (and they have one that goes up to 30lbs like the Graco SafeSeat only have the weight), but it doesn't fit into a shopping cart or the Graco swing we liked. Chicco's strollers feel very solid too. Much more than Graco, Eveflo, etc.
- The easiest one to carry was the Baby Trend triangular handle, but it did not fit into things too well either and it was a little heavier.
- The more expensive brands like Peg Perego etc. have nice features but are similar to the Chicco and Baby Trend quality so the price is not justifiable.
- Evenflo has a great handle designed but their seats and strollers seem rather flimsy

I hope this helps. God bless. Paul and Flavia Beriault, Toronto, Canada

Summary: Great little seat 2008-09-19
Comment: We bought this seat because it was the slimmest one available and we were trying to fit it, along with two other toddler size car seats, in the back of our 2003 Toyota Corrola. Things I love about this seat are: 1) it did indeed fit and 2) it's very stylish. Things I don't love so much: 1)it's sometimes a little hard to tell if it's seated properly in the base (because I have another car seat next to it, I can't easily check the level), 2) the release catch to remove it from the base can be a little tricky to find at first without bending over and looking and 3) the straps tighten with a mechanism that's not as nice as the one on other car seats. But overall, it's safe, it's nice and it's slim. I like it!
