Gripper Rattle
Product Description
Your baby is sure to enjoy this next generation rattle! Five easy grip handles surround a clear hourglass shape filled with red, blue, yellow and green beads. This rattle will delight little ones as they explore their sense of sight, sound, and touch. For ages 3 months and up. Editorial Review
This multicolored plastic rattle may be your baby's first sculpture. Five curved, finger-length struts that are perfect for gripping encircle a clear hourglass filled with red, blue, yellow, and green beads. Baby can see and hear the beads as she rattles away on the floor, in a stroller, or even in the bath. The 3.75-inch-by-4.5-inch Gripper Rattle looks like a tall, plump, see-through doughnut. Since babies focus most easily on objects within an arm's length, this toy will enhance hand-to-eye coordination. Because the rattle engages so many of the senses (sight, sound, touch) and can be explored by grasping and sucking, it's likely to sustain a baby's interest for some time. --Louise Carter

Summary: A stimulating toy but a little too heavy and hard 2007-12-17
Comment: My daughter first started reaching for this toy at about 4 months old. However, her arm control wasn't developed enough to keep her from smacking herself in the face. Not a problem with lighter toys made from softer plastic. This one is pretty hefty and I had to keep one hand on it at all times. Now, at 6 months, she's doing better and can play with it without risking a black eye.
For an older baby the toy is great. I don't think she's really into the beads yet, but that will come as she grows. For now she loves the colors and shape of the toy. It's easy to grip and makes a fun sound.
