Product Review
Product Description

It's about time someone created a tool to help new parents keep track of the overwhelming number of baby care details. Now someone has! ITZBEEN Baby Care Timer was invented by a new mom and dad who found themselves sleep-deprived and needing help to remember baby care details like when their baby last ate or napped. They tried charts and journals but thought there had to be a better way, so they invented one. And alas, ITZBEEN was born. The ITZBEEN Baby Care Timer is a multi-purpose tool that helps you remember the basic details of baby care. It has four timers for changing, feeding, napping and more that count up with the touch of a button! The ITZBEEN has several other helpful features including a nursing reminder switch that easily reminds mom which side baby nursed from last, a soft-glow nightlight to help parents find their way in the dark without waking the baby and a backlit display so parents can read the times and the clock in the dark. Plus, a back clip makes the ITZBEEN totally portable and allows for hands-free use of the nightlight! Awards: 2007 iParenting Media Award DadLabs.com #2 Dad Invented Product of the Year And many more rave reviews!

Summary: Great concept but just wasn't working for us. 2008-07-03
Comment: So, this product is a great idea, and it was highly recommend by a friend of ours but we were really disappointed. The unit we received was broken - segments of the screen didn't work so the numbers were garbled. Also, the alarm would go off on its own.

Even if we had a working unit, I don't think this is such a great product, especially for newborns. You hit the button when you start feeding the baby so you can keep track of how long its been - but with a fussy baby, she might not drink more than half and ounce if she wasn't hungry to begin with. So now the timer has already been reset, but you can't see what the time was before you reset it. This product is a cute idea, but we're much better off jotting down feeding and nap times on a sheet of scrap paper. We also made a fancy spreadsheet, but even that is over kill.

I really wanted to like this product, but I wish it could keep track of how many times you nurse in a day, and how much. keeping track of sleep would be better too, instead of just knowing its been 3 hours since a nap - trust me, you'll know she's been up for too long without this ;D

Summary: Loved it till it broke 2008-06-10
Comment: I absolutely love this item. Well that is till it fell off the back of the couch and broke. It fell three feet and now it's dead. I loved it while it worked though. It was so useful to help me keep track of when I fed my newborn and when I took my pain meds and my newborn was in ICU for a few days so I was pumping and it helped me keep track of when I did that too. I am thinking about ordering another one just because of how much it helped me. But not sure if I want to spend the money again if it is so fragile that any kind of bump will break it.

Summary: Defective from the get go 2008-05-13
Comment: I hoped to use this thing as soon as I came back from the hospital, so three days before my due date I got it out and tried to make sense how it works only to discover that any time I pressed the second button (the feeding button) the whole thing gets reset and blanks out. Taking the batteries out and placing them back again restarts the thing till the next time you press the same button.

Well, given all time constraints and all you need to do with a newborn who has time to bother with mailing to factory and getting replacement, etc. I wish there was some option to exchange at Babies'r'us or some similar deal but alas -- I am stuck with a defective $25 + item. I do use it and make do using the extra star button as a feeding button, but I quite frankly am annoyed this has to happen -- a simple timer should not be acting up so early on -- not when it is priced as a minor mp3 player. Either save your money or order well in advance, try using it and take replacement steps before your baby arrives.

Summary: Not just for babies... 2008-05-02
Comment: We have this to use when our little girl finally arrives, but I started having contractions during week 32 and used this to time the legnth and time in between. It was really helpful to have the multiple timers going. Ended up having to go to the hospital to stop the contractions, but now I carry in my purse just in case they come back. It was a life saver!

Summary: Good for "schedule" the baby 2008-03-30
Comment: i had my son on feeding schedule every 4 hours since he was born and i did the same when my daughter arrived 3 weeks ago. with the itzbeen timer is easier for me to remember when it's time and when it's not, having so much to do in the house and with her big brother who keeps my hands full.
it's a good help and yes, very nice baby shower gift.
