Summary: Not too bad of a product, a little pricey though 2005-08-31
Comment: That said, I think I agree with the other reviewer. Unless you have a coupon and get these on sale, they're not "all that." My little one felt wet, which he didn't like, but when they totally worn out and sleeping, they're still not going to get up to go even though they feel wet. And, these things are NOT absorbent, really. If you have maybe just a little dribble, they're okay for that but for a full glass of water, well, just be prepared to clean up the floor or the bedding, whichever applies.

I used these some but found them to be no different than a regular pull-up in regards to their use. And yes, these things are terribly easy to tear or just rip off as my little one liked to do. Training pants are still the best, in my opinion during the day because, quite frankly, these things feel like diapers to kids. If your child dislikes diapers (and I may even suggest calling them that), then they may ask to wear their "big boy underwear" instead of these. That sped along the training process in our house.

I guess I don't recommend these unless maybe you're going out and need a little extra assurance. But for bedtime, forget it. They will not hold the liquid from a full bladder. One thing I hated with these is getting up at 4:00 a.m. and changing the ENTIRE bed, clear down beneath the mattress pad. Keep that in mind before purchasing these for nighttime usage. They're okay during the day (except if your child is sweating from being outside, then these things are HORRIBLE for the child to pull up after using the restroom. They stick to their legs, get twisted, and then they tear! This caused a great deal of tears of frustration in our house.) but I'd go for the cheaper pull ups - these are not really worth the money unless you get a good deal on the price.

Summary: Feel 'n Learn Advanced Trainers Did NOT Advance our Training! 2005-07-21
Comment: Why is it that potty training goes smoothly for some, while others struggle so much? Is it the method? Is it the parenting style? Is it the parent, or the child? I'm inclined to think it's a bit of all the above, but I certainly don't claim to be an expert. Potty training my 3½-year old son has been exhausting. We started a year ago, and we're nearly there, thank goodness. Since you're reading this review, you're probably wondering if the Pampers Feel 'n Learn Advanced Trainers helped, or hindered the process.

Maybe my expectations were too high for these pants, but they seem like a glorified diaper that pulls up. Of course, it could be that my child is unusually stubborn. The Feel 'n Learn Advanced Trainers do allow children to feel the wetness. Well, for a short while anyway, but once absorbed my son went about his normal business of play. I believe that ALL pull-ups are just like wearing diapers, except for the freedom of choice, pull up, or pull down, so why use the potty. What's more, I found these trainers did not work for overnight wear. I tried it several times, and found a very soggy bed in the morning. The tear-away sides are less convenient too. The other Pampers pull-ups, the Easy-Up's are more absorbent; however, I like the competition better, Huggies Pull-Ups. They have easy-open sides that are much more convenient than the tear-away sides. On several occasions, William has stepped into the pants wrong causing them to rip. At this price I'm not about to throw an unsoiled pull-up away. Thus, I've had to safety pin the sides together. This doesn't happen with the Huggies Pull-Ups because they re-seal.

So, the important question is, did the sensation liner help with the transition to the potty, or not. In my opinion, it did not. William liked the Spiderman and the Hulk designs, but the wetness indicators were inconsequential. When he's wet, he knows it, and he could care less if it's spiders, numbers, or planets that fade.

Do I recommend the Feel 'n Learn Advanced Trainers, or not? There are two situations where I think these may come in handy. The first is for nighttime training. My neighbor is 5½, and he's been potty trained for 3-years, but still wets the bed at night. If Pampers made these trainers in larger sizes, they might be appropriate for this kind of training. Second, if you have a child that's training quickly, and doesn't like the feeling of being wet, then these trainers may work for you as well. Otherwise, save your money and skip these pants.
