Product Description
The AVENT Natural Feeding Bottle promotes healthy, active feeding and is the only bottle clinically shown to reduce colic. The nipple features a built-in valve that works with baby's natural feeding rhythm so baby can control the flow of milk, which can help reduce the risk of overeating and spit-up. The valve also keeps air out of baby's tummy, resulting in less colic and less gas after feeding. The soft, naturally shaped nipple encourages proper latch-on, making it easier for baby to switch between breast and bottle feeding. The AVENT Bottle is ultra hygienic, convenient and has no small parts to clean or assemble. The Newborn Flow Rate nipple is most like breastfeeding flow, ideal for newborns or breastfed babies of all ages. Clinically shown to reduce colic and designed to promote healthy, active feeding. Built-in valve keeps air out of baby's tummy and lets baby control milk flow, which can help reduce the risk of overeating and spit-up. Naturally shaped nipple encourages proper latch-on, for easier switching between breast and bottle feeding. Easy, ultra-hygienic design- no small parts to clean or assemble Includes one 4-oz bottle with Newborn Flow nipple Made in England. Editorial Review
The last thing a baby needs at feeding time is a bottle that lets air into his stomach. This 4-ounce plastic Avent feeding bottle is designed with a patented antivacuum skirt valve that reduces air swallowing and painful gas. The broad, soft silicone nipple mimics the shape of a woman's breast, making for a more natural transition when Mom can't breastfeed anymore. When used with the Avent Breast Pump, the bottle can be filled directly from the pump while the self-sealing cap prevents leaks during storage or while traveling. Ounces are marked on the bottle's side so you always know how much liquid baby is getting. --Marianne Painter

Summary: Contains BPA -- TOXIC Substance!!! 2008-08-11
Comment: BPA, a synthetic sex hormone that mimics estrogen, is used to make hard polycarbonate plastic. Ninety-five percent of all baby bottles on the market are made with bisphenol A. The results of the U.S. study show that, when new bottles are heated, those manufactured by Avent, Evenflo, Dr. Brown's and Disney/First Years leached between 4.7 - 8.3 parts per billion of bisphenol A.
Do your research, moms! There are lots of bottles out there that don't contain BPA. Trusted brands like Green to grow, Born Free, Adiri, and Thinkbaby.

Summary: avant bottles leak, big headache 2007-12-03
Comment: my son had no problems with the nipple or the shape of the bottle (holding it in his little hands). however, this bottle leaks and it's a nightmare to deal with. as another reviewer wrote, you turn it too much and it leaks, you turn it too little and it leaks.
i can't count the number of times the milk leaked from under the cap over his face, neck and clothing. in the middle of the night,it's even more of a headache. i wrote to avent about this problem and i'm sure they have received other complaints. they should have recalled these bottles...if the product does not work in the way it's supposed to, ie. feed your child in a clean, effective, safe manner, then it should not be on the market for people to purchase.

Summary: silly product I've ever seen 2006-12-04
Comment: Right, everyone says Avant is the "best" bottle on the market. I don't mind what the best means by "closest to mom's" or the "no air intake", it totally doesn't work!
I mean it works in some cases, but most of the time I have to try turning one degree more at time. You can't turn it too much or it will leak. You can't turn it too loose or it will leak. If I tried it when I filling in and it doesn't leak, it will leak on my baby's face when feeding! Sometimes it leaks more on the blanket than in the baby's mouth.
Let's face it, come on, make a product that works first, then we can talk about performance. We don't have the problem with any other nipple, even one time use ones. What were Avant thinking?! Maybe it is our bad luck, or maybe all other 'leaking' report doesn't ring any bell to the company!

Summary: Avent Bottle User 2001-07-29
Comment: My first two children spit up very large quantities for several months. They spit up breast, bottle, and even soy milk. I wish I knew about the Avent bottle sooner. It did not stop the spitting completely, however; it lessoned it greatly. My third child did not have the same problem his two older siblings had.

Summary: Doesn't live up to the hype.... 2001-07-03
Comment: Everyone says the best bottles are the Avent ones. I haven't found that to be true. My son never liked this one, and I've tried giving it to him a few times. Thankfully I only bought one to try out, so I didn't invest a lot of money. We just ended up buying the regular old Gerber ones--in the pretty colors of course (you can buy at least 6 for what 1 Avent bottle costs). I'll admit we never used the nipples that came with the Gerber bottles, but instead bought the silicone, ortho ones because they were the only ones my son seemed to be able to handle. I did buy some Avent "sippy cup" tops to replace the nipple since they will fit on this bottle, so we'll see how my son takes to those (maybe the bottle won't be a total loss).
