Summary: The problem with this seat is the price 2008-11-20
Comment: This would be a good seat for 30-50 dollars cheaper. The problem is that's it's overpriced. I would like to see Dorel price this seat around $80, at which point I believe they would actually start selling these again. You can buy a Graco Nautilus for the LESS than this costs on Amazon currently. It will last most children longer and is a much nicer seat. No need for headrests, and it is made by a company that has a history of much more ethical practices than Dorel.
The only situation I could imagine this being a good choice is if a child was obese, their parents could not afford a Britax Regent, and the car had headrests or high seat backs. I would only do so in that situation because it would be highly possible that the child would not fit into a Nautilus. Otherwise it's a waste of money.

Summary: Pleased Mommy 2008-03-20
Comment: I bought this car seat for the weight and height limits as we apparently grow our babies fast in this family. I read the reviews on this site and decided to buy it anyway. It's true that the crotch strap is indeed too short. My child complained about his legs hurting and he is skinny. I immediately call the company and received the longer strap (actually a whole new seatbelt unit) about 5 business days later. 5-10 minute phone call with no hassles. Just needed to provide the manufacture # and date and my personal info. We easily installed the seat tightly in our grand caravan using the Latch system. It's not supposed to move more than 1 inch at the bottom of the seat, not the top head part. I would suggest going to your local police station or fire department to have them check it to make sure it's installed correctly if you are unsure or are having problems. The armrest covers do come off easily. I found 1 on the floor of the van and 1 in a puddle next to the van the next morning. At least they come off so I can wash off the leftover snack residue. I will probably attach them with some velcro. All in all, I am happy with this car seat.

Summary: hulk hogan couldn't tighten this seat 2008-02-01
Comment: I've had this seat for about a year and half and I'm on the search for new ones. I moved my twins to these seats as soon as they met the size requirements. The crotch strap has 3 adjustment levels and at 22 lbs my one year olds already had to use the middle placement and the second highest shoulder placement. Now they are 2 1/2 and are already at the highest adjustment level. They definitely aren't old enough or big enough for the seat belt harness. So now what!
The harness is also impossible to tighten. I'm small but I've been hauling around 30 lb twins and double strollers so I'm no weakling. Everytime I strap my kids in I have to climb in my van and put my knee in the seat and pull as hard as I can to tighten the harness and its still never tight enough for my satisafction. Plus the nylon straps are fraying which doesn't help when you are taking it apart and putting it back together after washing.
Needless to say I am very unhappy with these seats. I was really hoping they would be my last car seat purchase but I'm on the hunt again.

Summary: Safety is a Concern for this Safety First Seat 2007-11-28
Comment: There is a big safety concern with this seat put out by the company Safety 1st. There is a metal piece on the back of the seat that the two shoulder harnesses slip over to secure in the back. This same metal bracket holds the strap to the bottom that you pull to tighten things. When you loosen it the straps get so loose that shoulder harness can slip off the bracket. You must remove the entire seat each time in order to fix the shoulder strap. This is not only a huge annoyance but not safe since they would prefer the fire department to put in your seat each time. I can't do that each time it falls off and I have to do it myself. I have called the company and they are sending a new seat in order to examine mine. It just can't be safe that it is that easy to have the shoulder strap come off like that.
The other small complaint is that the seat bottom cushion is a light blue and it shoes dirt horribly. Also, the bottom plastic supports poke very bad into the leather seat. Much worse then the Triumph we had prior or the booster seat. I am worried it won't every look right again.

Summary: Really like it! 2007-11-12
Comment: We've had this seat for over a year now & love it. My husband, who is strong, but not a beast, has never had any trouble getting the seat installed w/ the LATCH system. & we've moved the seat a 'few' times. I've even done it a couple times. My son loves it too. He is a tall 4yo who weighs 35lbs. Yes, we're early on the weight, but wanted to be prepared. All in all, a great seat at a great cost! We also have a 3yo daughter that we will be getting the seat for in the next year or so.
