For those times when you can't sit outside your baby's door, listening for every breath, coo, or cry, a monitor can be a true friend. Safety 1st's Safe Glow 2 Receiver Monitor is an excellent, fairly basic model, featuring soft glow nightlight, superior clarity (with up to 400 foot indoor/outdoor range), lights that display baby's sound level, and two portable receivers with belt clips so both parents can be on the alert at all times from different locations. The nightlight turns off automatically after 15 minutes, but provides enough light to check on baby or even change a diaper without rousing the little one. Three AC adapters included. Each receiver requires one 9-volt battery (not included) for use in portable mode. Peace of mind included for free! --Emilie Coulter

Summary: Avoid 2008-06-02
Comment: When we first got this monitor set, the receivers would randomly screech out loud static which was really super. But then they wouldn't, when they weren't working at all. Sometimes they would just turn off, but you could get them to work with a vigorous shake, jiggle of the wire in the jack, or a slap against your palm. Great.
So we contacted Safety 1st and they sent us a new set. This set isn't as crappy as the 1st set but there is a lot of interference that comes and goes - worse with one of the recievers than the other and at random intervals. As the fearless GW Bush said: "fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again." So we decided these are going back and we just ordered a Graco monitor set.
The quality of the product is clearly poor. My wife and I both very much liked the design and the night-light and loops and such, but if they don't work properly there isn't much a good design can do to help.
I'd suggest that parents steer clear of these and try another brand.

Summary: Works well 2008-04-05
Comment: I've been using this monitor set for 10 weeks. Mine look a little different; the parent monitors are round and have a rounded loop antenna instead of the kind that stick up. (See picture) The monitors themselves work very well. I was disappointed to discover that even though I had the parent unit plugged in, the batteries were still drained. It wouldn't be a problem to just add the batteries when I needed the unit to be mobile if it weren't for the fact that you need a very small flat head screwdriver to open the battery compartment. The inclusion of the AC adapters is very handy. I leave one plugged in next to the bed at all times, so if I go for a nap I don't have to worry about it not being there or the batteries being dead.
The only times I have heard interference was a few times when the microwave was on. (The baby unit and parent units were at least 2 rooms away from the kitchen) I like that the red lights on top light up according to how loud baby is being. My son is very vocal, so I know if all the lights are on he is actually crying and not just playing. The lights are very handy if you're watching tv, so you don't have to have the monitor on loud. At night when everything is very quiet, I can hear a low hissing static noise from the parent unit no matter how low the setting is. It's not a problem, just an observation (my mommy ears are probably too sensitive!) I would order more for the grandparent's house, but with all the different styles shown in the pictures, I don't know what I would get.
The baby unit doubles as a night light just by pushing on the front. Not enough to change a diaper by, but handy nonetheless.
Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of this monitor.

Summary: Great Monitor 2008-03-25
Comment: I purchased this for my second child - as a second monitor. Although the one I received appears to be an updated version from the one in the photograph, as the receiver units are slightly smaller with more indicator lights on them. Thusfar it works brilliantly - and there's no interference from the monitor that I'm using for my first child. It was a great value for money purchase.

Summary: Awful! 2008-01-21
Comment: I just got this monitor because my old monitor (Graco Digital) broke after only two months... I hate this one, it is really awful. One channel doesn't work at all, you just get incredibly loud static. The other channel works, but has a loud loud buzzing noise that is impossible to get rid of or ignore. Awful! I am taking it back.

Summary: horrible 2008-01-02
Comment: I received this monitor set as a gift. One of the receivers didn't even work straight from the package. When I called customer support, they were so uncooperative and told me that since I didn't have the receipt, there were nothing they can do. That was the least of the problems we experienced with this monitor. The static it picks up is unbelievable! It would pick up the noise of our dryer so loudly that we always questions whether we hear the baby. Also, the whole set stopped working one night after a few weeks, so now we have to look for a new monitor set pronto!
