Safety 1st Secure Lock Bed Rail
- Mattress top secured
- Color coded "good" position and lock indicators
- Convenient fold down position
- Metal railing, mesh net and fabric lining
- 2-5 Years
Product Description
The Safety 1st Secure-Lock Bed Rail offers additional security by attaching to the top of the mattress instead of adjacent to the mattress like traditional style bed rails. A color-coded safety-position indicator lets parents know when the rail is properly positioned and locked. It also eliminates possible entrapment between bed and rail. The secure-lock bed rail meets new ASTM bed rail standards. Extends to 44" and accommodates mattresses between 4" and 10" thick. This bed rail cannot be used in place of a crib. Never use on a bunk bed, waterbed or inflatable mattress.

Summary: I love this bed rail! 2008-12-03
Comment: I've tried a few other bed rails at relatives houses, and nothing compares to the security and fit that this one offers. It may be a tiny bit hard to set up but once you have it set up it is super easy and fits great! There are certain "tricks" to it, like you don't have to rise it all the way up and out of it's socket to change a bed, a little rise and you can get the sheets out and it makes it so much easier! It is a quality product, sturdy and smart.

Summary: Safest Rail Out There 2008-06-01
Comment: I've had this rail for well over a year now & I think it is great. My daughter had major surgery when she was only 6 months old and had 1/3 of her skull removed. Needless to say, I take it very seriously when it comes to her safety. She is 3 now and we actually used this on her crib when we removed the side rail & converted her crib to a toddler bed a year ago. I know a lot of you wigged out about this topic, but for me, it was completely safe for her. She is small for her age, so I didn't mind the 2 or 3 inch loss of sleep space on the crib mattress due to the rail, she still had plenty of room in there. I put a step stool next to the - yes- very small opening for her but she was able to stand up, hold the crib and step in and out of that bed without a problem. At first I was worried about her in there with it, but after a week's worth of never ending nightly checks, I was soon able to sleep soundly knowing that she would not fall out of the bed.
Now, as of May 2008 we have finally moved her into her big girl bed - a twin bed with both a mattress and box spring. The box spring is 9" high and the mattress is 11" high. This rail completely clamps down onto the mattress, there is no way it is moving or going anywhere on its own!! My daughter moves around alot and it is still doing its job - keeping her in bed and safe!!! There is plenty of room for her to step in and out of bed (with the step stool) around the rail and tons of space for her with the twin mattress.
Anyone who says this thing unlocks, or pops or whatever really is not operating it properly. You do not need to unlock the 2 sides simultaneously, so you unlock one side and then unlock the other, change the sheets and push back down on each side 'til it clicks, locks and your good to go. Really, this rail does not move, I could never put her in a bed without a rail that was this secure. There may be some other rails out there that you can just slide in and out from under the mattress with ease, but you've really got to wonder then, just how safe is your child with it? I would be more worried about my child getting stuck between the rail and the side of the mattress than how much effort I had to exert to get this rail to lock - and trust me it REALLY does not take much effort. So, if you can't get yours to work correctly, I have to agree that you are doing something wrong.
Anywho, I only paid about $[...] for this at a big box store and I just saw some within the past month still for the same price there. I would not urge anyone to pay $[...] let alone $[...] for any safety rail. Don't be foolish with your money and don't be foolish about your child's safety either!

Summary: Great bedrail -- especially for travel 2008-05-24
Comment: This is great. Totally secure, fairly easy to put on and off (although not quiet and you do have to put a bit of muscle into it). The best part is that it comes apart for travel. It takes about 10 minutes to take apart or put together and does require a screwdriver, but this is much better than any other bedrail that we saw. I would not pay $150 for it though. You can get it for $40 elsewhere.

Summary: Great Product - Very Safe 2007-12-29
Comment: It was slightly confusing to assemble, but just follow the directions exactly and you won't have any problems. It is a wonderful bed rail that won't trap babies like others. It is very sturdy and secure.

Summary: It's terrible 2007-08-22
Comment: I didn't have this item 24 hours before I returned it. It was fairly easy to put together but hard as $%@ to flip down. It was also much too big for my daughter's bed and I am having flashbacks to how hard it was to take the darn thing apart so I could shove it back in the box and return it. It's no wonder that Walmart already has it on clearance. It's a poorly designed piece of garbage. Don't waste your money.
