Summary: Money Wasted 2008-04-05
Comment: Purchased 02/07 - Had alot of scratches on it which I passed off as part of the rustic look... We sanded it in areas it needed. Dropside rail was difficult to let down and finally when my little one learned to stand we heard creaks when she leaned against it which needless to say cracked... I feel this crib was made out of used parts I hate it !!!

Summary: Very Reliable, Good Quality 2008-01-19
Comment: I've had this crib for two years now and it's held up amazingly. For my daughter's first year it was wonderful. We were able to lower the height of the mattress as she got older. It's a very solid crib.

One of the wheels broke early on and I had to take all of them off. However, this wasn't all bad because once she was old enough to stand she was able to move the crib by pushing on the wall. So once the wheels came off it was acutally kind of nice.

My only complaint is that we changed it to a toddler bed thinking that there was some sort of board to prevent her from rolling out of the bed and there isn't. The board they provide (and the holes they have to screw it into) are at the bottom of the mattress. The mattress is a standard mattress. We ended up buying a bed rail from Wal-Mart but because of the board it's a really tight fit and smooshes the mattress a little and causes a gap.

But theses aren't really bad things. I would still reccommened this crib to my friends. I plan on using it for the next baby and getting my toddler a nice toddler bed. I probably won't end up using it as the full size bed though. That's just me though :o)

Summary: Not for the faint of heart 2007-12-15
Comment: We were looking for a convertable crib for our little one, and decided to buy this one despite the negative reviews-- many of the reviews were about the product arriving damaged. While the box came munched, only one piece was slightly damaged in the laminate-- and that was in a place where you can't really see it.

The first thing we want to recommend is that if you are not used to building furniture from IKEA (or other such flatpacked furniture) then either look elsewhere or hire a professional. You WILL also need tools aside from the two hex wrenches included in the package (however, they come in two different hardware bags). You need both a flat head and phillips head screwdrivers, a crecent wrench and a rubber mallet. Another set of hands is a big plus; even the smaller pieces needed more then one person to fuss over it.

The assembly problems we had encountered were: Some of the predrilled holes weren't large enough to accommodate the screws and other hardware, parts of the instructions were vague and we had to interpret when to put some parts together when, some of the instructions were also in different packages and not noted on the main set of instructions. We also had one of the casters break when we tried to install it (I'll have to call and get a new one sent out). My husband was very happy that we bought and assembled this crib a few weeks before our child is due, as this will give us time to get the part in.

The crib also comes with instructions and parts to turn the crib into a daybed (to make it into a headboard/footboard, you'll need to purchase the mattress frame to attach the pieces to). While I'm pretty sure we'll get some years of use with this child, I would hesitate to say this will be an heirloom that can be passed down through the generations. The drawer underneath seems especially fragile, and I'll probably use it only for spare blankets and light objects rather then any heavy storage.

Would I recommend it to other parents-to-be? If you have time to spare for assembly (and possible replacement parts to be shipped) and may only need a crib to last through one baby, this seems ok. If you plan on having other children or want something that will be very easy to put together, you may want to look elsewhere.

Summary: Flimsy Crib 2007-11-22
Comment: I ordered this crib because I really liked the look of it and because it was a lot less expensive than the other cribs I looked at. I wish I'd seen one in person before making my decision. This crib is flimsy. Even when just sitting on its wheels, it seems flimsy. The wood is really thin and even though we knew we had assembled it correctly the rails seemed wobbly and just overall not very sturdy. And it gets worse ... the drawer falls off really easily, which isn't that big a deal ... but it gets worse still ... you can't drag the crib from one room to another very easily because the wheels come off. But despite all of this it seemed like it was at least safe--flimsy, yes, but not likely to fall apart to the point of being dangerous. So we used it until my daughter was about 16 months old, then she started figuring out how to jump on the mattress. Well, she did this a couple of times and the bottom literally fell out of the crib (fortunately it was just one corner, so she didn't get hurt). So we bought a new piece of wood for the bottom of the crib and disassembled it so we could repair it, and discovered that not only had the bottom fallen out but the frame had cracked, too. So it didn't even get past the first "stage" before it was ruined. We were not rough on this crib--we only moved it twice and the rest of the time it stayed in my daughter's room. It is just a very poorly constructed crib. At the very least, a crib should be made tough enough to withstand the day to day abuse of an active toddler. It's not like parents have a whole lot of control over what a child does early in the morning before anyone else is up. If I had it to do over again, I would do two things: 1) not buy a crib unless I'd first seen it in person and 2) spend an extra hundred bucks to get something a lot sturdier.

Summary: PERFECT. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL, GREAT CRIB, GREAT DEAL 2007-04-22
Comment: SO I SAW SOME NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON HERE, BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE IT A SHOT ANYWAY. WE PURCHASED THIS CRIB AND THE MATCHING DRESSER. THE CRIB WAS PACKED INCREDIBLY BY STORKCRAFT. THERE WAS A BOX WITH STYROFOAM AND IN THAT WAS ANOTHER BOX, WITH STYROFOAM AND ALL THE PIECES WERE TIED TOGETHER AND WRAPPED VERY TIGHT. NO DINGS, NO DENTS, NO SCRATCHES, NO DRIPPED STAIN, NO MISSING PARTS. WE PUT IT TOGETHER IN ABOUT 90 MINUTES. THE INSTRUCTIONS CAN BE A BIT CONFUSING, BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THE ILLUSTRATIONS YOU WILL HAVE NO TROUBLE PUTTING IT TOGETHER. IT LOOKS WONDERFUL AND WAS WELL WORTH THE PRICE. DO NOT HESITATE TO PURCHASE AS STORKCRAFT COVERS ANY DAMAGE OR PARTS FOR ONE FULL YEAR FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I CALLED FOR A REPLACEMENT PART ON THE DRESSER. ONLY TOOK 10 MINUTES OF WAITING ON THE PHONE. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE.
