Summary: Great Product 2008-07-29
Comment: I had another monitor before this one that didn't work to well. I love this one. The sound is clear and I can take it anywhere in the house without a problem.

Summary: I wish every baby product had a superbright light and beeped really loud! Not! 2007-09-14
Comment: We use this as a monitor when we travel, so we can leave the other one set up. But we've used it quite a bit.

Overall it works well enough to keep it for occasional use, but I can't really recommend it, and definitely wouldn't have it as our everyday monitor.

Pros:

- The digital signal is static free, and private. The sound quality isn't great (sounds kind of processed), but good enough.
- It's pretty light weight, so it's easy to travel with and easy to carry.
- We had pretty good luck with battery life, but didn't leave it on all the time, usually, and plugged it in when we could or when we were going to be in one spot for a while (dinner, overnight, etc).

Cons:

- There aren't enough volume adjustments to get it set to the right level. There are about 7 steps of volume, none of which is low enough for us. That's a big problem - we only want to hear when the baby makes loud noise, not pick up every noise in the room and have it sent to our room. Other monitors (with continuous dial adjustments) can easily be set to the right volume level. (Being able to set the volume lower would also make the gaps in the signal, mentioned in another review, less noticeable.)

- Every now and then the parent unit locks up - the screen freezes and stops working, and can't be turned off. I have to take out the batteries to get it to reset itself.

A few features really make me wonder if any real parents used this before they put it into production:

- The superbright blue LED on the baby unit is way too bright, we have to cover it up.

- It beeps when you adjust the volume on the parent unit. What genius thought of this? That might make sense on a cell phone on 5th Avenue, but not on a baby monitor in the middle of the night.

- The beeping that the parent unit does when it loses the signal is way too loud.

The range seems OK, but not especially good or bad.

Not great. I don't really see what's so hard about designing a baby monitor (I'll do it for any company that asks!). Don't any of these companies have people with babies that can actually try the product out before they release it?

Summary: Don't buy this one 2007-08-13
Comment: This monitor is annoying for all the reasons listed in other reviews (beeping, frequent signal loss, bright light at night), but also because there are only a few sound levels you can choose. I'd like to turn the volume down more (but not completely off), but the lowest level it allows is still too loud. Moreover, I've only owned it for 15 months (my baby's age), and it just broke (the button to turn it on and off is stuck and won't allow me to turn it on). Although I don't think it's necessarily the best, the monitor we use for our other child, a Sony, is much better than this one.

Summary: Good performance for the price 2007-06-18
Comment: We did quite a bit of research before buying a monitor and this one was evaluate by a "leading independent research firm"(not sure if I can say the name) and is listed as a recommended model. We purchased it based on this recommendation and have not been dissappointed. We have taken it on trips around the country and it has NEVER lost the signal and we have had very little interference from other electronics. However, before we purchased it, we made sure that our other electronics (cordless phone, etc) were not the same frequency (2.4 Gz). We like the ability to plug in or use batteries in the parent unit, the light on the baby's unit doubles as a night light (quite handy) and the multiple volume levels come in useful if you are reading a book versus vacuuming. Our only complaint is that the baby's unit can't run on batteries, so you can't use it in places that don't have an outlet.

Summary: Not even worth getting for free 2007-06-07
Comment: Not that I should complain about something I got for free, but this monitor is quite annoying. As mentioned by other reviewers, it makes loud, annoying feedback noises quite often, turns off to look for signal at least once a minute, and the night light is VERY bright and cannot be turned off. What I really don't like is how fast it goes through batteries. We had it on ONE night with batteries and they were dead by morning. That means, this item has to basically be plugged in at all times. So, going from shower to bedroom to living room to kitchen while my son sleeps is not easy. I would HIGHLY recommend spending a few more dollars on a better monitor. I am going to be buying a new monitor, because this one is not even worth getting for free.
