Summary: No other option 2006-05-11
Comment: When I had my first child my employer didn't have a private place for me to pump. Since I refused to pump in the bathroom as everytime the toilet is flushed it sends bacteria and feces into the air, my only option was a battery operated pump. I bought it at BRU, and besides the noise and millions of batteries I went through it was okay. I didn't however pull enough of the milk out of my breast and I started to develop mastitis in both. I only recommend this item if you have no option buy to use battery operated devises, other wise, spend the money to buy a nice one, you'll send it eventually in batteries anyway.

Summary: What a waste! 2006-04-29
Comment: I had the AVENT manual pump when I had my first daughter and it worked really great. Too bad it didn't work with my second daughter. My nipple got stuck on the connector and it is so painful. I decided to get this one because my friend adviced me to get this one. It worked fine at first except the noise, but then it started acting weird. The liquid went up caused leaking and then it started making a noise like you need to change the battery while I'm using the adaptor. After several use, I totally lost the suction. I tried to put it all the way up to get more suction, but I still don't feel any pressure. I'm so over with this pump and ready to dump it! Don't waste your money for this pump.

Summary: Good value, no major problems 2006-04-24
Comment: After reading the other reviews I had to comment. I've been using this one for about four months. The issue of milk backing up into the chamber is easily solved by cleaning the flaps well so they don't stick. It only takes a few seconds to run it under hot water.
I've used this pump three times a day for months and haven't burned the motor out yet. I would guess that people who burned the motor out probably let the milk back up into the unit (the instructions warn you not to do that). Motors and milk don't get along!
As far as speed - it's a little slower than a hospital grade pump - that's to be expected. I can still pump both breasts in less than ten minutes with this unit, though. I can't imagine buying a pump costing [...] when this one does the job for less than [...]

Comment: Bought this pump thinking it was a great valua but you do get what you pay for. Same thing happened to mine that happened to the others that reviewed it. Back up of milk in the three way and loss of suction after about a month or so of use :( I wouldn't by another. I recommended it to my sister after I first got it and she got stuck with a bummer too :(

Summary: Good at first.. then it lost me 2006-04-18
Comment: I bought the pump and started using it on March 20th. At first I was happy with the convience it gave me and the suction it had. In less than 30 days, the motor blew and lost suction.
I am investing in a better Medela.
