Summary: seeems to work so far 2007-10-26
Comment: I have one year old twin boys who discovered that they can watch Baby Einstein any time they want by pressing the right button on the tv. They have watched me do it many times, and caught on quick. Now that I use the tv guard, they have ignored the buttons. although the first day that I put the guard on, there were a few frustrated screams, but after that they don't even bother to notice. Now the only problem is that they steal the remote. I recommend it to any parents of children who aren't little terrors that are going to rip the guard off, or break it in half.

Summary: Worked for our DVR 2007-04-04
Comment: We ordered this product to place on our DVR. It has worked well. We no longer have to worry about our little guy pushing buttons, but we still have to tell him no sometimes when he starts pulling on the plastic. I would say it has reduced the "no"s to about 1/3, which is something.

Summary: Great guard for some LARGER t.v.'s 2007-02-16
Comment: It does have some safety concerns. I think with a smaller t.v. it would definitely be a tipping concern. You need to read the CPSC information on this product before you buy it for your home. I thought it was supposed to come with a "non-skid" mat, but it didn't-it came with four little self adhesive silicone pads to stick on the bottom of it. I am not sure how they think that will prevent a child from tipping the t.v. over on themselves, toppling the stand or pulling the t.v. off the stand. The non-skid mat for under the t.v. was a better idea I think.

However, I bought it for our Phillips Magnovox 27" t.v. which is not a size that this product is intended for. Our t.v. curves in the front slightly so I am not worried about the tipping issue (only enough of the plastic sits under the t.v. firmly hold it in place. The plastic is flexible enough that it seems it would break before it would tip our very heavy t.v. Not enough of it sits under the t.v. for leverage to tip it or pull it off the stand. On a smaller t.v. (the product is marketed for 19" or smaller) it could be a real hazard. If enough of the plastic is under the front of the t.v., the t.v. could be pulled off the t.v. stand (our t.v. stand has a front edge that makes that impossible) or the child could topple the whole stand depending on what you use (also impossible for us as we have a solid oak entertainment center that is almost impossible to move much less tip).

It worked like a charm for us, but you really need to assess your t.v. and the stand it is on (could the whole stand topple if the child pulled on the guard or could the child pull the t.v. off the stand using the guard?). Children have died when this product has been used, so take great care. Safety information can be found at CPSC.gov.

It does cover our speakers too but since the t.v. curves there is enough of a gap that it hasn't been an issue. It might on a smaller t.v.

I gave it three stars because it worked for us, but I don't think they adequately addressed the serious safety issue with this product and I think they should be marketing it for larger (i.e. heavier, more difficult for a toddler to tip or slide) t.v.'s not smaller, if nothing else. Plus, almost $20 (with shipping) for a flimsy peice of plastic? Come on!

Summary: Watch your kids! 2006-12-30
Comment: This is a great product! If your kids want to hand from it- stop them- if they persist- discipline them. Do not say they can break it easily- say you do not attend to your kids and you do not discipline them.... yep
get the guard and watch in relative peace

Summary: Great idea, cheap plastic. 2006-01-06
Comment: It lasted for about a minute. My 2 year old figured it out right away, pulled it forward and snapped it without any difficulty, leaving sharp edges. Great idea, poor quality.
