Product Description
Human-like, but not human, the nara ruled Tanyrin for centuries. The most feared among them were their naragi, sorcerers whose power was all but invincible. Not until the coming of Arami Lothlain, King of Tanyrin and Blessed of Loth, did the rein of the nara come to a bloody end. For four hundred years afterwards, the land was at peace. Stefn Eldering was the youngest son of the Earl of Shia, the last in a long, proud line of demon hunters. He was also a sin-catcher, living proof of God's displeasure, the shame of his existence atonement for the sins of his ancestors. Michael Arranz was the son of a duke and one of the despised h'naran, half-bloods cursed with the blood of the nara running through their veins. Of all the h'nara, his family alone was immune from the persecution of the powerful Church of Loth, protected by an ancient covenant. In ordinary times, the paths of Michael and Stefn would never have crossed. Alas, times were no longer ordinary. The latest of the Lothlain kings was a weakling, unable to curb the ambitions of an increasingly powerful, corrupt clergy. Famine stalked the land. Fear of the h'nara, fanned by the Church, spread tentacles everywhere. Tanyrin teetered on the edge of chaos. A loyal and devoted friend to Tanyrin's crown prince, Michael could refuse Severyn Lothlain nothing, not even when Severyn asked the unspeakable of him. Determined to wrest the throne from his brother, Severyn intended nothing less than the resurrection of the ancient naragi. Michael, whose naran blood was the purest in Tanyrin, was the logical choice. But for Michael become what mankind feared most, he needed a conduit through which to take the powerful, dangerous magic of the Dark Stream. He needed a man who carried the ancient blood of the cethera. He needed Stefn Eldering. ___ This book is published by SL Publishing Group www.slpublishinggroup.com

Summary: Excellent writing! 2010-05-16
Comment: For me, I see a book that lists 'CreateSpace' as its publisher and I go running in the opposite direction. Yeah, yeah, I know, an unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but it's the truth for me. However, I was lucky enough to read this novel despite that above fact and I'm so glad I did.

This book is FAR and BEYOND what you'd expect from such questionable sources. The world the author creates is very impressive. From the political push and pull, plus the depth of emotion in her characters, it's extremely compelling. The complexity (even the dark aspects) of the relationships: between Michael and Stefn; Michael and Severyn; and, in its way, Severyn and Stefn, gave me that thrill where you can't wait to get back to the characters and see how they'll respond and what they'll do next. Plus, the writing has a higher level of professional polish and style than you usually get with a 'CreateSpace' book.

I highly recommend this novel. If you're someone who knows what yaoi is and appreciates the style (especially Ayano Yamane), then you will not be disappointed at all! This is fantasy m/m fiction at its best.

Summary: Hated this book, absolutely hated it 2010-04-19
Comment: SPOILER ABOUT THE ENDING (RATHER VAGUE ONE imo) closer to the end, WILL PUT ANOTHER WARNING

I am trying to be as objective as possible, because if I were to follow my emotional reactions I would have given this book one star, but it indeed has interesting plot, complicated world building and well written interesting characters, so to be fair I am giving this book 3.5 stars, because this book also contains romance trope that I despise with absolute passion and feel that this trope has nothing to do with realistically portraying two people falling in love. And yes, even in the most fantastical world I expect to see protagonists showing realistic human interactions. And I am sorry, but Stefn falling in love with Michael after what happened between them initially? (Unfortunately this is all I can say without spoilers.)

I could not buy it at all, and every time when Michael started talking to Stefn about social unjustices, I wanted to slap him so badly and tell him that he has to be on his knees begging for forgiveness and get off his high horse asap. Ugh!

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER (if the traditional romance ending could be called a spoiler)

Oh and one more thing I found ending to be even more annoying part of the book than what initially brought the protagonists together, although it is connected of course. So instead of indeed letting Stefn go and see the world and truly decide what is in his heart and whether he truly wants to be with Michael, author just makes him decide to stay with him and sacrifice his dreams. Because they discovered true love, of course. I am sure this is not what author was going for, but victim falling for his captor reminds me of something else entirely and definitely not about true love.

Summary: Fabulous New Fantasy Novel 2009-11-21
Comment: Cethe Cetheis the new novel by Becca Abbott.

In it we meet what is essentially a strongly written ensemble cast of characters. They are multi-dimensional while living in shades of gray.

The story told in Cethe revolves around the lives of Michael Arranz and Stefan Eldering. With them we cross the Kingdom of Tanyrin meeting both nobles of the Court and the upper echelon of the powerful Church of Loth. We find some men are secretly planning rebellion. While others seek personal power.

Cethe's strong plot moves swiftly from point to point. This makes the novel an exceptional read.

If you are looking for strong plotting and exciting characters, you will find Cethe to be perfect for you.

Summary: Lovely, wonderful slash - fascinating characters, intricate plot 2009-11-19
Comment: I've read a lot of Becca Abbott online. If ever there was an 'online-author' who deserves to be *really* published, it's Becca.

She reminds me so much of C.J. Cherryth. In Cethe, she has developed an alternate universe that makes sense in all of its details.

In addition, she creates amazingly detailed and attractive characters who draw the reader in and MAKE them care what happens.

As in some of her other works, it takes a while to understand the intricacies of the world, its gods and its problems. But the wonderful chatacters (Stefn Eldering and Micahel Arranze) grab you and don't let go.

If you like inticate science-fiction/fantasy with some deliciously explicit slash, Buy This Book!
