Amazon.com Review
Whether this is pregnancy number 1 or number 10, nothing makes it easier to connect with a growing baby than knowing exactly what magical development is happening every day. Filling the need for practical information, medical data, emotional and spiritual fuel, and even "pregnancy trivia," The Pregnancy Journal is easily one of the best books available for a woman or couple expecting a baby. The journal contains about half a page of information for each day from conception through delivery. Nutrition, how to avoid discomforts associated with pregnancy, childbirth customs in other cultures, and practical parenting tips are among the topics touched on. Many days in the journal have a great section called "Did You Know"; for example, from Day 49: "The baby's arms at this point are only as long as this printed 1." At the bottom of each page is a quote from a literary or historical figure; some are sentimental, some pithy, some humorous, all inspiring. The information and quotes seem to invite musings and speculation on the miracle unfolding inside the womb; there is some space for recording data and thoughts, but if you want to write more than just a few lines every few days, you might want to have a blank journal to accompany The Pregnancy Journal. The format of this book makes it much more manageable and inviting than most books on pregnancy, and the information is made even more accessible by the inclusion of a glossary/subject index in the back. Don't wait until the shower to give this excellent resource and thoughtful gift--moms-to-be will want to have it from the very beginning. --Katherine Ferguson Product Description

Summary: Not really a journal 2008-09-19
Comment: i bought this book from a local bookstore and it was wrapped in plastic, so i didn't get to see what i was buying until i got it home. it has good information, but i wanted something that would let me write (like a journal should) about my feelings and put in pictures of ultrasounds. i'm keeping this b/c like i said it's good info but the title is misleading - it should The Pregnancy Book, not Journal.

Summary: The Pregnancy Journal 2008-08-24
Comment: This is the best book a newly pregnant woman could own. Not only does it have interesting and valuable information about the growth of your baby, your own body changes, nutritional facts and parenting tips but it has spaces for you to record your own personal journey through your pregnancy that you can keep forever and even show your unborn baby when it's grown.
This is the second time I have purchased this book, the first time was 7 years ago when I had my first child and I would purchase a third if I was to get pregnant again.
A.Chrisine Harris,Ph D has done a great job on the book and the revised version is awesome!

Summary: Great information, not really a journal 2008-08-06
Comment: Like all the other reviewers said, this is a great sources of information about how your baby is developing every day. That is the strength of this book - it is great to have a sense of what is happening each day. Each day also provides little tidbits about nutrition, or pregnancy. The information is generally solid, although if you really want information on nutrition, when to see your care provider, challenges like morning sickness or headaches, etc. you should get a book with more detail and an explanation of the various thinking/approaches to the issue. For instance, this book recommends not touching any alcohol throughout your pregnancy, when, in reality, regular drinking is a problem - not a glass of wine every other week. But the key thing to know about this book is that IT IS NOT A JOURNAL. Not in the sense that there is a place for you to write thoughts each day, or keep track of memories or milestones, unless you write in the margins. There are places for notes at the end of each month, and a few places for notes throughout the book, and a place to record your weight and waist size every so often, but this book IS MOSTLY INFORMATIONAL, not an actual journal where you can keep good track of things like diet, exercise, thoughts, hopes, dreams struggles. There just isn't enough room for that. In short: great for reading about the daily development of the baby, not great for keeping a pregnancy journal.

Summary: Cannot say how much I love this book. 2008-08-06
Comment: This is a wonderful book. You can read one entry a day at a time, according to your own progressing pregnancy. Of course, this should not be the only pregnancy book that you purchase. You will get more detailed and professional information from "What to Expect When You are Expecting". But pregnancy can be really stressful at times and you don't always want to be overwhelmed with all of the information available. That is where this book comes in. And it helps you to visualize how your baby is growing day by day.

Summary: Excellent Journal for IVF Pregnancies!! 2008-07-27
Comment: As an IVF mom who's never experienced periods, I especially appreciated the author's including the 38 week(266 day)Expected Delivery Date along with the LMP method to determine the expected date of delivery. This type of journal actually works great for me because my pregnancy began the day my physician transfered my 3 day embryos into my uterus and lasted 37 weeks and 1 day. Not having periods, I found myself making up a date for LMP because I got tired of being asked that question at appointments. The constant reminding that my pregnancy was IVF became tiresome. It really helped that Dr. Harris' journal includes both methods for pregnant moms like me. I'm now beginning my 2nd pregnancy and know that the day my embryos were transfered is day 4. It's great to know exactly where in the journal to began and contrary to the few that didn't like the daily aspect of this journal, As a person experiencing a miracle pregnancy I found it very comforting to know exactly what was going on and enjoyed the many diet and parenting tips. Highly recommended if your pregnancy is assisted through reproductive technology.
