This somewhat unpleasant 1992 sequel to the blockbuster Home Alone revisits the first film's gimmick by stranding Macaulay Culkin's character in New York City while his family ends up somewhere else. Again, the little guy meets up with colorful people on the margins of society (including a pigeon woman played by Brenda Fricker) and again he gets into a prop-heavy battle with Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. The latter sequence is even worse than the first film in terms of violence inflicted on the two villains (director Chris Columbus, who also made the first film, can't seem to emphasize the slapstick over the graphic effects of the fight). The best running joke finds a concierge (Tim Curry) at the swank hotel where Culkin is staying trying and failing to prove that the boy is on his own. --Tom Keogh

Summary: "Home Alone" With a 2 on the End 2008-12-19
Comment: Did you love Home Alone so much that you wished you could watch it again, only this time in New York? Well, you got your wish my friend. This movie is almost a carbon copy of the original with a different setting, right down to Catherine O'Hara's screaming "Kevin!"

The family is off to Florida for a Christmas vacation, but at the airport, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) accidentally follows a man that looks like his father into a plane headed for New York. When he finds out he has made another blunder, he isn't scared at all. He takes in the sights (including the World Trade Center) and checks into the Plaza Hotel. A goofy bellboy (Rob Schneider) and a suspicious clerk (Tim Curry) give him some trouble, but Kevin has no trouble tricking them with a few clips from Angels With Even Dirtier Faces. He meets a kindly toy shop owner (Eddie Bracken) and is distressed to find that his old friends the Wet Bandits (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) have busted out of prison and plan to rob the toy store.

The big fight against the robbers at the end of the film isn't done in quite the same way as the first film. It has far too many "bang" and "wham" sounds to be anything but childish and foreshadows the low quality sequels to follow.

And notice all that great product placement? American Airlines must have made a hefty bundle from all of the times the company logo was shown in this film, and I know I really wanted a Talk Boy when I was a kid.

This is a good movie for kids and adults who were kids when the movie came out, but you might find yourself groaning about how predictable the plot is.

Summary: Another Christmas Favorite!!! 2008-12-19
Comment: Ever since I was a kid, I've loved the 'Home Alone' series! This is a really good sequel! A year after Kevin stopped Harry and Marv, he gets on the wrong plane and heads to New York, while his family goes to Florida. Harry and Marv broke out of prison, and they happen to be in New York too. Kevin uses his dad's Credit Card to stay at the Plaza Hotel. When the staff scare him away, he tries to visit his relatives, but they are not home. Kevin runs into Harry and Marv who plan to rob a toy store where all the money will go to the Children's Hospital. Kevin sets up the traps again at his uncles' house and chaos ensues, and with the help of the 'bird lady' a showdown happens in Central Park. If you love the original, you'll love HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK!!!

Summary: I always enjoy watching Macaulay Culkin ! Don't mess with this kid ! 2008-12-16
Comment: Shades of the old Jerry Lewis comedies. Violent but slap stick from the old days. Silly? yes. Unrealistic? Here and there. (ok allot) Fun? OH YAH !

Also beautiful. Scenes of New York at its best. The sound track is great. Happy ending.

A must see every year for me.

PS: To all the other actors: a perfect cast YOU ALL DID GREAT ! THANKS !

Summary: Hilarious and Heart-Warming 2008-11-19
Comment: People look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them that this is my favorite of the Home Alone films. Well whatever. The main reason that I like this movie is because of the way they portray New York's best sights like Central Park, etc. Whereas the first movie kept most of the scenes at his home, this one explores other scenery. And the cast is hilarious. My favorite character (aside from Kevin)is the bird/homeless woman who ends up being a sweetheart. I always choke up at the end when she and Kevin hug it out. I think everyone should have this movie in their holiday collection. Yes, and the first one too.

Summary: Love the movie, HATE the DVD 2008-11-13
Comment: This review is not for the movie, which i love, i grew up on this one. It's for the DVD. It is letterbox and looks like crap on a widescreen tv. Wait for them to re-master this one like they did for the original in the 'Family Fun Edition' which i recommend. Do Not, i repeat, DO NOT waste your money on this one. Hope this helps someone not make the mistake i did.
