Product Description
INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU IS PUT ON THE CASE WHEN THE PINK PANTHER DIAMOND IS STOLEN, WITH THE PHANTOM'S TRADEMARK GLOVE THE ONLYCLUE.
Amazon.com
Peter Sellers's third go-around as the prideful but bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau is funny enough, but this 1975 Blake Edwards revival of the Sellers-Clouseau connection is a little weak in comparison to predecessors The Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark (both made in 1964). Costar Christopher Plummer actually gets some of the most interesting screen time as a retired cat burglar whom Clouseau accuses of getting back into the business. (If it sounds like there might be a To Catch a Thief vibe mixed in here, you're right.) Herbert Lom is hilarious as Clouseau's psychologically eroding boss, and Clouseau's ritualistic collisions with valet Cato (Burt Kwouk) are great examples of Edwards's delicious comic timing. --Tom Keogh

Comment: If you loved the first Pink panther you will love the rest of them. Peter Sellers is hilarious and the Pink Panther Series will probably never be matched. A must for any movie collector to see and/or own.

Summary: Sellers Has Done It Again 2009-08-13
Comment: Inspector Clouseau is back! So is the Phantom but this time played by Christopher Plummer, who does an admirable job picking up where Niven left off. The only problem I have is what happened to Simone? Did Sir Charles have an affair between when he, his nephew and lover left at the end of the first film and now? Or is this just one of those unexplained phenomena in movies that falls under bad continuity? A small problem with an otherwise funny movie. Some of the best scenes involve Sellers and Herbert Lom, again playing insane Chief Inspector Dreyfuss (again another victim of bad conitinuity as he was Commissioner in A Shot in the Dark but then again after that attempt with the bomb at the end of that, I guess he could've been demoted). With this film, they begin the tradition of Clouseau and Cato tearing up their apartment. Catherine Schell, while she isn't Capucine, does a good job of playing Lady Litton. Some of my favorite scenes of her is when she starts laughing at Clouseau when he's disguised (actually the actress breaking character but yet adds to the character as it shows that she thinks Clouseau is a very little threat but finds his attempts amusing). Two alum actors from The Avengers (Peter Arne and Peter Jeffery) round out the ensemble with Arne again playing the villain. Along with the following two films, the Panther films of the 70s display hilarious bits of slapstick. In this one, which also (though shown in the previous Sellers film) displays Clouseau's many disguises, he investigates Lady Litton's hotel suite and comes to a very shocking conclusion after fiddling with a popping light bulb. Again, not a film to miss in this series.

Summary: Peter Sellars Return As Clouseau& Blake Edwards Returns As Director. 2009-08-12
Comment: After Almost ten years,The"True"Inspector Clouseau(with apologies to Alan Arkin Fans) returns.Sellars is back, and in fine form,as Inspector Jacques Clouseau.Clouseau must once again,go on A crazy,mad-cap,adventure to recover"The Pink Panther Diamond".The film has many laugh out loud gags,"The Vacuum Cleaner Bit"in Lady Lyton's hotel room is priceless. There is also The usual assortment of wild"Clouseau disguises, the usual fight with Cato(Burt Kwouk),and Clouseau once again driving his boss Charles Dreyfuss(Herbert Lom)bonkers. While the film is very funny, what hurts it is; The film occassionally drags somewhat. Also the poor casting of Christopher Plummer and Catherine Schell as the Lytons(David Niven and Cappuccine were better in these roles).A funny film, and A good comeback for Sellars, but the film could've been better/funnier.I do recommend it,but the film that immeadiately followed,"The Pink Panther Strikes Again"is much funnier.
