Amazon.com Product Description
Share your music while on the road with the Harman JBL on Tour portable speaker system, which features an integrated protective cover that slides open to reveal a pair of full-range speakers. The slightly curved chassis measures 7 by 1.4 by 3.5 inches (W x H x D) when closed. When open, the cover shifts focus to serve as a stand, pointing the speakers upward to produce optimal sound on a flat surface. The system is compatible with most portable audio players thanks to its stereo mini-jack connection, which hooks up to such devices as the iPod, iPod mini, and a variety of other MP3 players, CD players, desktop computers, and laptops. The JBL on Tour is also easy to control, with a touch volume pad that both manages the volume and mutes the sound when desired. The speakers also remember the previous volume setting once the system shuts down.

Unlike many portable speaker systems, the JBL on Tour prides itself on its steady bass and clear, accurate audio. The device employs Harman's digital amplifier technology and Odyssey aluminum-domed transducers to deliver a full, rich frequency response that extends from low bass notes to high-end tones. In addition, the system uses computer-optimized equalization to improve the soundstage and an advanced energy management system that keeps the unit from wasting battery power during use. Additional features include gripping rubber feet below the speakers, an audio input cable, and a universal AC adapter. When used as a portable system, the JBL on Tour provides more than 24 hours of continuous play on four AAA batteries. The device also includes a low battery alert.

Summary: Little Box, Great Sound! 2010-01-11
Comment: What makes this portable speaker system so great is the superb quality of sound, volume, and size. These speakers have great sound quality and can generate decently high volumes loud enough to fill a small room. If the speakers are pushed to the maximum volume, you will hear some distortion. The sound quality for the price make this a great buy, but don't expect to fill your living room or throw any parties with this system, this is great if you travel a lot or want sound in extra rooms, such as a bathroom, small office, or kitchen. You can also take them to the beach or to the park since it can be battery operated, which is a great plus.

Summary: Impressive 2009-12-21
Comment: I've been using the JBL On Tour for four years now and it has performed wonderfully!! I use it in the enclosed space of my office, and it sounds great! Have never used it outside or in a larger area, but I didn't buy it for that.

It's perfect with music as well as audiobooks and podcats and it has performed with the same excellence through 2 iPod nanos and the current iPod Touch.

Double thumbs up!!

Summary: I take it everywhere... 2009-10-04
Comment: Pretty good sound for speakers this small. I use it with a portable satellite radio and take it everywhere. The biggest problem I have with it is that there is no external off switch. In order to turn the speakers off you have to slide the cover closed which requires you to remove the audio in and power cable. It gets annoying.

Summary: Good sound, super portable 2009-04-13
Comment: I got these speakers to do presentations on when traveling. They are small enough to slip into my lap top bag and battery powered. The sound however is quite good and I'm now using them instead of my much larger computer sleakers with my oPod at my desk.

Summary: nice little LOUD device 2008-11-06
Comment: First and foremost, I love the sound of this piece. It really kicks up the sound up a notch when you plug in your mp3 player, computer or what not. Sound is crisp and clear and I have no problem with the delivery or performance of sound.

Now the nitpicky stufff. The cover slides way too easily, sometimes sliding the speaker close half way. I also wish there was some kind of an attachment to stand the mp3 player on top of. The cords can also get a little tangled up, but that's the nature of any speakers with wires I suppose. I really, really hoped it came with an on/off switch or button, because otherwise, you pretty much would have to unplug the device to power off. That's my biggest gripe.

Aside from that, if you want quality sound, you can't lose with this product. That almost makes me forget all the design flaws with the product. Almost.
