Summary: one of the best things i've purchased this year! 2010-03-19
Comment: This is one of the best purchases i've made so far this year!!! I have a sony Bravia tv and I absolutely love it, however the sound was not very exciting. It was lacking something. I have been searching for some type of sound system that will deliver a crisp sound coupled with deep and rich lows. Eureka! I have found the product that provides that. I was really skeptical. I mean really. I hadn't heard much about the company and when I inquired most people suggested that I go with the sony sound bar. Well I went and listened to the sony sound bar and it was nice and sleek in appearance. But it costs more and doesn't produce as much sound (400 watts)I also looked at the phillips and i think a sharp. The wireless subwoofer technology just hasn't been perfected yet. So with that being said I decided to try the Acoustabar. The Acoustabar is larger in size, but it fits nicely in the allotted space. Craftmanship is nice, it comes with a remote, lent cloth and brackets to mount on the wall. The only drawback is that its kinda heavy. I had it delivered to me at work to ensure that I would have it in enough time to take it home, hook it up, listen to a little music while cooking and watch KANSAS STATE and the University of Kansas play in the NCAA tourney with my new sound system in tact. Hooking it up was soooo simple. Just plug it in and you are ready to go in 2 easy steps. This is truly an inexpensive room filling audio system that will be worth the purchase. By the way, the family room in my basement is around 19x26 and it sounds great in that space.

Summary: Yea, but........ 2010-03-17
Comment: I really cant be that objective because this is the only soundbar I've owned, therefore I really can't compare it to anything else, but I guess I was expecting a bit more. I pretty much agree with much of what has already been said, but I would suggest you exhaust all research options before pulling the trigger. You may want to invest a bit more & get better quality, such as a Yamaha or something.
As one reviewer put it, the thing is rather large, so do some measuring before you purchase. It has an extremely spartan owners manual. I was also dissapointed in the very limited remote. It just looks cheap, and I was astonished to discover it didn't have a MUTE button.
While I'd say the sound quality is good, I certainly wouldn't say I was blown away with it by any means. The SRS effect was rather unimpressive, if not useless, but perhaps one could play around with the focus control for a better effect. Only problem is the sound controls are on the back of the unit (not on the remote), and as stated, this thing is rather large (40" long by over 5" tall), so trying to get to it is cumbersome at best.
The sound quality on my otherwise excellent Samsung 46" was poor, so I needed something to improve it, and yes, this unit did accomplish that goal. Would I make this purchase again knowing what I know now? Maybe, maybe not. I'll stick with it because I don't want to go through the hassle of returning something that essentially does what I want it to. Again, perhaps you should do what I wish I'd done and go to an audio store, listen and compare before buying.

Summary: Great Sound! One of the better Sound Bars 2010-02-16
Comment: First off, no sound bar is going to provide surround sound very well. I had a $50 surround system before I purchased this sound bar, and it produced surround sound, but the quality of sound was lacking, which is why I purchased the AcoustaBar. The sound quality of the AcoustaBar was evident right away, very crisp sound, improved dialogue, nice bass, most of you will want a separate sub however, but the bass was fine for me. The SRS surround feature adds full, bigger sound. You are able to switch this off if desired. It includes a small remote that controls volume, SRS on/off, power on/standby, source(tv,dvd, ipod, aux). It does it's job. On the back of the speaker system are inputs for tv, dvd, aux. There are also controls for bass, surround and vocal(increases mid/treble). A docking station is located on top for an Ipod. The main power switch is also located on the back, I leave it on, and just put the bar in standby mode.............The only drawbacks I can come up with for the AcoustaBar is, like another reviewer mentioned, mine had a ding, on the right corner. It was packed pretty well, makes me think it must have been hit pretty hard for that to happen, a small concern. Mine did come with a manual and warranty card in the box, I doubt you will need the manual though. If you mount the bar to the wall, I am not sure it will be possible to reach the power switch if you choose to turn it off completely. You would have to use a power switch to accomplish that. It does use more power, and cause more damage to shut electronic equipment off and on, so maybe that's why this company made it difficult. The only other thing is the size of this beast. The dimensions are inluded in the description, but it just looks much bigger in person, be prepared. If you don't expect true surround sound, I believe you will love the sound of the AcoustaBar. I have listened to sound bars costing $500 and up, and this one matches the sound quality as far as I can tell.

Summary: Great for us! 2010-02-05
Comment: Well, I'm no audiophile...just someone who enjoys hearing the dialogue in the movie or listening to a little music, and this soundbar really works for me. Set up was too amazingly simple and the little remote does everything you need...switching between sources, controlling volume and controlling Ipod. The sound blew us away and you can even tweak some treble and bass with the control knobs on the back. Had thought about getting one with a seperate sub-woofer, but we have so much wireless commotion in the house, I was worried about interference and with a wired sub-woofer you kind of defeat the purpose of a no excess wire soundbar. The sleek glossy black finish is cool and the front display is not distracting when watching television. All in all this is wonderful and my husband cannot wait for our guest to hear the Superbowl game on it. We're using it for the 42" kitchen television with an open diningroom...pretty large area and we have to turn it down! Love it.
