Comment: This is a very comfortable chair even with out the lumbar feature. Reasonably priced and I would certainly buy another one.

Comment: I am quite baffled at the reviews for the Aeron. We've had them in our office for a few years now. Everyone was raving about how great they would be for their price. Now we have people sitting on folding metal chairs instead of their aerons because of the problems and discomfort they cause.

The biggest flaw is the front edge of the chair part where your legs hang over. There is no padding. The edge is rock hard and after sitting in the chair for a couple hours, you can barely feel the back of your legs.

The next design issue causes long term damage, and that seems to be the way the seat "bowls". I am 29 and have bad hip pain while walking after prolonged sitting in the aeron. You can feel it as soon as you stand up, as your hips shift back into a normal position. Out of 80 employees at my work, the only person who "loves" the aeron is the manager that was in charge of ordering them. I think people are blinded by the fact that they wasted [...] on a chair and force themselves to like it.

It's a fail. I have a [...] leather office chair at home.. I can sit there for hours and relax with no joint or leg pain.

Pros:
- Lumbar pad (which I took off because it was annoying)
- Mesh seat to avoid "sw'ass"

Cons:
- Uncomfortable after more than 10 min
- Bowl seat causes hip problems and can't stretch your legs
- Hard edge under back of legs is like sitting on bleacher seats.
- Arm rests on 70% of the chairs in the office have come loose or fallen off.

Summary: Best Chair, Best Warranty, Best Customer Service 2009-11-23
Comment: I bought my Aeron seven years ago. Sitting at a computer all day, I needed a good chair and I've been nothing but thrilled with this chair ever since. Then, two weeks ago, the stud that holds one of the armrests broke off.

I called HermanMiller's customer service number. A live person answered the phone. But I was transferred and, within ten seconds, got another live person. He had me read the numbers on the sticker on the bottom of the chair and that told him my name and address, plus the size, fabric and color of the chair. He told me they'll custom build a new one and ship it out within 2-1/2 weeks. UPS will deliver it, set it up and take away the old one.

Wow!

Less than two weeks later, UPS shows up with a new Aeron chair.

UPS is another story; awful customer service. Even though there is a giant label on the box saying "Attention UPS Driver! Do Not Leave Without Return Shipment" the driver still have me a hard time. He just wanted to leave the box and be off. I finally talked him into taking the old chair although he just dumped the new one on my step.

HermanMiller is great, but maybe they should consider a new delivery service!

Meanwhile, the new chair feels like, a new chair. And I'm in love with my office chair all over again.
My back has never bothered me sitting in this chair all day and the adjustments make it perfect for any task.
It's hard to imagine getting better service from an office furniture company.

Summary: Lumbar support broken, over and over and over 2008-03-07
Comment: I requested an ergonomic chair from my company as I developed a back problem after sitting in their incredibly cheap, crummy default desk chairs. After quibbling over it for a week and requiring a doctor's note, they provided me with an Aeron chair. It is reasonably comfortable, however after about two months the lumbar support ripped apart. I'm 6'2" and 195, not a weight that should be excessive for a well-designed chair. I requested, and got, a replacement lumbar support, assuming that the original one had been either defective or subject to too much wear and tear before it came to me. After two months, that one also ripped apart. The construction of the lumbar support is, frankly, cheap. Within a few weeks of getting the new lumbar support I noticed it began to tear at the sides. The chair without the lumbar support is virtually useless. It provides almost no support for your lower back at all, which is the whole point. Don't waste your money on this company's products.

Summary: An excellent product with an excellent warranty 2007-06-01
Comment: I am HARD on chairs--6.2, 245 pounds. I've been sitting in my Aeron chair for at least four years, almost every day, for long periods of time. I also zoom across the room to another computer ocasionally--but don't broadcast that. I've have had a problem with the pedestal of the chair--it seemed to be rocking a bit. The good news is the chair is under warranty! You call the local rep and they come and fix it--or, as in the second episode, replace it with a refurbished chair. My gosh, how do you beat that? YOU GET A TOP-END CHAIR FOR UNDER $800 WITH A GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL LAST 12 YEARS! How many retailer chairs will you buy in 12 years. Geesh, I sound like an Aeron commercial. (I bought it direct from Herman Miller so I cannot vouch for this vendor.)
