Summary: Awesome 2008-10-06
Comment: Bought this for my soon to be wifes Birthday.... It came a week earlu but so what.... Open it i said... well 3 weeks later, we have the beggining of a small forest of herbs... very awesome product... theres cheaper ways out there to do this, but you know what.... it'll keep you looking time and time again.... buy it... try it... you'll love it

*Too expensive (better just buy tomatoes) This is like a hybrid car. You need to have this work for you for 10 years before you recoup your money back or maybe not, electric bill and the bulb will keep setting you back.
Unless you live in a home with free electric or you really cant have a garden because its too cold or you don't have a garden don't get it.
Going green is not a excuse. If you want to go green support your local farm raise food market. buying one of these does not help the environment. Making the plastic the packaging and the bulb is not good for the environment.
This is just plain not economical. Fun, that's about it.
Oh bugs, you may get them too.

Summary: Don't listen to overheating stories. 2008-09-05
Comment: I have two of these right next to each other (see photos) and they are great. These do not overheat unless you put them in a poorly ventilated place such as a closet or a cabinet. This product is awesome. If you want to buy one of these to put it in a closet, you may want to think twice. Hot lights plus low airflow equals overheating, duh.

Summary: I Love Having a Green Thumb Again 2008-04-30
Comment: Envious of those people with green thumbs that can make anything grow? I used to be. Now I am green with delight over the little plants I have growing in my Aerogarden Pro 200. I got it just a short time ago, but within several days I was thrilled to see little sprouts. It's very easy to set up and basically foolproof for those of us who killed everything before this awesome and complete system.
I think the Pro 200 is the best deal for the money. You get the herb garden and a grow kit that you can plant your own seeds in as well. Plus the extra lights and the extendable arm. It's quiet, beautiful and in a short time, we'll be enjoying herbs that are organic and amazingly fresh. Next we'll try cherry tomatoes, yum!

Summary: Unsafe product - smoking lights 2008-04-26
Comment: I recently ordered an Aerogarden Pro 200 directly from Aerogrow. I had been using it for about a week when a lot of smelly smoke started pouring from the vent above the light bulbs. I quickly unplugged it, afraid that it was about to burst into flames. I called Aerogrow the next day to report the problem. I was told by the operator that it was due to a problem in the design of the new deluxe grow bulbs. He tried to assure me that it wouldn't cause a fire and that they hoped the problem would be corrected in future models. It makes me angry that they knew of a safety problem with their product and were shipping it anyways. I filed a report with the consumer product safety commission.
