Summary: Audubon Cedar Bluebird box 2008-06-03
Comment: The customer needs to be aware that just because the word Audubon appears in the name of this box that does not mean that the National Audubon Society has recommended this box for cavity nesters. The better place to look for a box recommendation is at the North American Bluebird Society or any of its State affiliates.
These folks work exclusively with cavity nesting birds and are a better source of good up to date information. This, front opening box, is perfectly OK for any cavity nester. Nothing wrong with it at all. Cedar is a preferred wood because it lasts longer. And the price is good as well. I simply wanted to set the record strait as one reviewer said she would expect nothing less than good from Audubon. Anyone can use that name on their products as it has never been Trademarked or copywrited.

Summary: Bluebirds abound! 2007-04-10
Comment: I bought this for my mother after having seen a bluebird in her backyard during a visit. This is a great little house constructed perfectly from the size and placement of the opening to the slight venting on the bottom and back. Of course I would expect nothing less from an Audubon Society bird house. The house comes complete with instructions on proper location and placement of the house. The instructions also warn how to protect the birds from predators and gives a little background information on their feeding and nesting habits. It couldn't be much easier for a first-time birder. I brought it to her on March 23rd, and she put it up two days later. She was concerned that she had put it up too late in the season, but the very next day...a nesting pair showed up and began to build! She has called me almost daily to give me an update on their progress. I'd definitely recommend this bird house for the price. You can't beat it! And for greater success, I'd recommend putting out mealy worms to draw them in.

Comment: These houses are sturdy and attractive. I especially like the easy-to-open front door to clean it out or monitor the nests.
