Summary: Good choice for my purposes 2008-05-16
Comment: Purchased this to replace an almost identical mower I've had for 10 years, which had begun to self-destruct. It has a good range of mowing heights, and is powerful enough for my small-ish lawn. I prefer electric mowers - they're quieter, less demanding (no oil and gas to store), and more environmentally responsible.

Summary: B&D engineers were "Out to Lunch" on this one 2008-05-14
Comment: I had several reasons to switch to an electric mower. Always having to make sure I had gas on hand, the constant maintenance, plus the pull start was really taking a toll on my shoulder...
I believe this product was designed by someone that either doesn't mow a lawn, or watches the help from his/her deck. It's ELECTRIC!! That means a person will be using a CORD...a LONG CORD!! It's all about DESIGN, and I think the engineering crew was on a mental coffee break, because they built this as though it was a gas mower. I ended up jerry rigging a hook on the side and on in the middle of the handle since the indent in the handgrip area and the plastic gizmo on the side that holds the handle on aren't long enough to handle it. If B&D would come up with something to attach to the side that could prop up the cord, like above head level, that would be a step in the right direction. Any B&D people reading and heeding?
As for the quality of materials and construction. B&D should have spent an extra .75 to make either an aluminum start handle, or .05 to make one out of the same cheap "pot metal" that they used to attach all of the wheels together with. I find that the plastic handle is quite flimsy, and every time I use it, I'm EXTREMELY careful because it does feel like it could easily snap off in my hand. I'm toying with the idea of making an impression of it so my dad can make something in his metal shop to replace it.
I mentioned in the above paragraph about the "pot metal" attaching the wheels. The mower I'm reviewing is my second. I had to return the first one because when I tried to use the wheel height adjuster, the metal bar that connects all of the wheels broke. I don't understand why they couldn't have used a steel bar for this since it's not that thick, or long, and really wouldn't have cost THAT much. Oh wait...I know...because it was made in CHINA!!!
I ended up keeping the machine I'm reviewing because when I received it, we were experiencing an unusual amount of rain for this area, alternating with freezing weather...neither condition is good to mix with electricity and lawn mowing, and my 30 day return period had expired, so I was stuck.
As far as mowing, as long as you are aware that this machine is on the fragile side, and you get the hang of how to handle the cord, it mows fine, but I will admit that I was surprised at how loud it was considering that it's electric.
I'm thinking of selling this one, and getting a Poulan.

Summary: Great lawnmower for a great price 2008-05-12
Comment: Have been using this lawnmower for over a month and have not had any problems with it at all. I want to thank the reviewer who advised to spray the blades with cooking spray, it keeps the grass from sticking, and works great.
