Summary: Solar Generator 2007-09-25
Comment: I have set this solar panel behind a skylight window in my attic and connected it to a deep cycle battery in my basement. Everything has been working fine, but the solar panel doesn't have the wattage to do a complete recharge in 1 day. This was a good starter project to learn about creating a solar generator for a small investment. The panel is producing 18 watts as stated. 11/23/07 update: This panel is still working, but I was noticing discharge on the battery after the charge indicator went off, I did research and found even though the connected devices were either turned off or not pluged in a drain could occur and the recommended solution was to add a switch. I used an electric switch for my solution. Now I have changed the hookup of all devices connected except for the controller to be attached via one connection which has a switch on the positive wire, by using the switch to shut off the attach devices I have impoved the charging of the battery. Since changing the configuration this setup has gotten better and I have achived a max charge via the charge controller indicator lights, 14.2 volts.

Summary: Coleman 18 Watt Solar Panel 2007-07-26
Comment: It performs as advertised. It came when they said it would come and worked flawlesly. It is best to lay it flat outside to get direct sun. It has been outside in a storm and came through fine. I also like the pretty blue indicator light on it that shows that it is working.

Summary: It stopped charging 2007-04-17
Comment: After a few weeks, the blue light on the unit showing that it was producing power was out and the battery that was attached through a controller wasn't being charged. I didn't mount it or moved it around. I ordered a replacement but it is weeks away from arriving. I guess Amazon wants it to deliver after the 30 day return policy expires.
