reviews were invaluable. Instructions were great/necessary also.
I started of with it set too low. but when I raised it up a little worked great.. can't plug the charger in wrong as suggested by another reviewer.
did my whole yard 40x80 sloping and still had power to spare. Had to watch for the rear,rubber,guard as suggested by somone. The flap holds the side shoot on. So the flap does not come off..Will add a little brass chain to hold the rubber guard out back so it does not get cut up.
I am really happy with my lawn mower.

Summary: Cordless Mower Works well 2008-08-16
Comment: Enjoy using the smooth ride and low sound of this cordless mower; however, it does have some challenges working in thick or wet grass. If you keep on top of your lawn probably not a big problem and is great for small to average size yards of course. I've got an average size lawn for track housing area so have not had a big problem with performance--tomorrow should be an interesting test since it has been over a week since my last mow because of business related travel.

Comment: Several of the reviewers have complained about the charging system. Either the battery would not charge or charged slowly. The charging system arrives in two separate pieces that I will identify as the power cord, that part which plugs into your home receptacle, the charger, the small rectangular black box with two indicator lights with the permantently attached charge cord, the cord that plugs into the mower. I assembled the system and plugged everything into it's proper place and then watched it very closely for a few minutes. I fly electric RC planes and I have seen charging systems melt down before. In about two minutes the charger was too hot to hold in your hand. This can't be right, so I called the "Call me first" number. A very polite lady listens to my problem, then says that she has not heard of that before and must ask the tech people. Foolish me, I believed that she was the tech. The answer that she relayed from "tech" was to take the mower to a service center over fifty miles away from my home in Nashville, TN. I declined her advice saying that it would be much easier and cheaper for me to return it to Amazon than to make one, or most likely two, round trips to the distant service center. Internet shopping is not about driving. While begining to disassemble the charging system it occurred to me that turning the power cord connection to the charger 180 degrees (polarity?) might have some effect. Sure enough, the system began to charge. I won't call it properly because I believe that the charger is to small for it's intended task and continues to get hotter than I would like but that is pure speculation and should be taken as such.
A bit over two months of steady use and other than a wheel cover falling off the mower continues to cut well. I called the "tech/receptionst" back and explained just what that I had done to resolve the problem and after a long pause I asked if she was still there, "Yes, she answered, just writing all this down in case it happens again". At least one person there could be counted on.....
Cutting it fine in Nashville, Lynn...

I did not buy this cordless mower on Amazon but I am so happy with it that I decided I had to throw a pitch for it. I received the mower by turning in hotel award points. This product performed flawlessly right out of the box. I have had no problem whatsoever with it. My yard is not small and not huge. It takes me 45 minutes to do the front and back. I have never run out of power. In fact when I finish the battery meter says I have half my battery life left. It cuts the grass without slowing down. Height is simple to set, it has more power than the last gas lawn mower I owned. I was surprised at how much quieter it is than the gas mower. And there is no gas to buy, no oil to change. Its clean! I did not find it difficult to push even though it is not propelled. Like I said, I wrote this because I am completely surprised at the quality, quitness, ease of use, and convenience of this mower. Buy it, your gonna love it ;-)

Summary: Keeping it Reel 2008-08-05
Comment: I've been using my Scotts Classic 20" Push Reel mower since I bought my house three years ago. Is it perfect? No. But it works quite nicely any and everytime I need to mow my lawn, and I can still hear the birds tweeting when I do so. After endless chiding from friends and family who think I'm crazy not to go with a "real" mower, I did research and enthusiastically purchased this Earthwise Cordless online (not from Amazon) - got it a few days later. After reading and following all directions, I charged it a full 24 hours before even starting up and waited in anticipation for the big moment when I could finally be like all the other people who use "normal" mowers. I rolled (well, lugged) this hefty 100 pounder over to my backyard and followed the start-up procedure. I heard a click and a faint high-pitched whine from somewhere deep in the mower. Nothing. I tried again. Same sounds, but nothing. I noticed the charge-indicator light showed that the battery had no charge in it. Then I noticed smoke coming from somewhere in the battery compartment...and then more smoke....and, well, I think it may still be smoking as I write this. I pushed it way over to the side of my driveway away from my house just in case it was going to blow up or burst into flames. Then I took out my trusty Scotts 20-Inch Classic Push Reel Lawn Mower #2000-20 reel mower and peacefully mowed my TRULY green lawn! (and NO, I don't work for Scotts, but I fully endorse their reliable, excellent product!)
