Summary: TOXIC!!!!! 2008-09-30
Comment: I bought this product without reading the label completely. The label states that this product is Toxic for Birds. Since birds are splashing around and drinking from our pond all the time, there is no way I could possibly use this product in our pond. I am just waiting for our next Toxic Drop-off Day so that I can safely dispose of this junk. I can't believe they would market this product for use in ponds.

Comment: I have used several liquid products that I have bought in nurseries and other stores. They actually worked. This one seems to promote algae. Sunset Magazine recommended this product. I don't know why.

Summary: Safe for wildlife-kickass algae killer 2008-07-28
Comment: I've been using GreenClean for 3 years in my water-feature. The birds consistently drink out of the pond and the waterfalls. If used as directed it won't hurt anything. I have all types of wildlife drinking here plus my own Maine Coon Cat. It has been totally safe.
As for killing the algae...you can literally watch the algae start dying within minutes. And yes, if you've let the algae get thick you might have to treat again in a few days to get it all. But we had tried everything on the market and this has been the only effective product we've found.

Summary: Toxic to birds 2008-06-23
Comment: This product seemed to require the addition of much more than the label indicated to knock out the algae in my small fountain/pond. I stopped using it immediately when I noticed the fine print on the label that said "toxic to birds." If I had to use more than the label says to use, and at recommended levels it is toxic, what kind of poisonous brew was I mixing up? I simply cannot use a product that has the potential to kill innocent wildlife just trying to cool down/get a drink on a hot day.
Since most ponds are outdoors, and it is almost impossible to prevent birds from drinking from ponds, fountains, etc., I am astonished that this product is even for sale.

Summary: Does what it says 2008-04-08
Comment: It seems to work okay at killing the algae it comes in direct contact with. But short of draining my pond and treating all the string algae, I still like Algaefix better for controlling string algae.
