Heath Zenith's SL-5525 bundles a motion sensor and a single halogen light in one package. The unit includes a selectable timer that lets you set the amount of time the lights stay on after motion stops (an automatic photocell deactivates the lamp in daylight). Alternatively, a manual override enables you to turn the light on and off at will via an existing indoor switch. The sensor has a range of up to 70 feet and detects motion in a 180-degree range with a maximum 3,400-square-foot detection zone. Summary: Hazards of Halogen Light 2008-07-15
Comment: Light output excellent. But what happens if the motion-detector timer fails to shut off and the high-heat producing halogen bulb stays on?
In my case, it caused the outer plastic housing to melt down and possibly to have caught fire, just two weeks after installed. Fortunately, it was self-limiting, but the heat blistered the paint on the wood siding on which the light was mounted. The siding could have, but did not, catch fire, or else the house could have burned down. The manufacturer said it shouldn't happen. But it did. And if it happened once, it can happen again.

Summary: "Heath Zenith 250 Watt Quartz Light - A Bright Idea" 2008-06-03
Comment: This is a well made compact unit and is bright enough to make anyone stepping into it's nighttime path think they are on the tracks with a diesel locomotive bearing down. Fully adjustable time-on and sensitivity work as advertised and a photocell keeps the light off during daylight hours. A good looking addition to your home security system.
