Summary: Lawn-Boy Lawn Mower 2008-07-06
Comment: This is a great mower once you get it started.
I bought this mower for my daughter. We followed all the directions to get it ready to run but couldn't get it started. The blade wouldn't turn more than about 180 degrees. After about 45 minutes of fiddling with the mower, it finally started working. Once it did start to work it was great. My daughter loves it.

Summary: Love my new Lawn-boy! 2008-07-04
Comment: I was interested in the Lawn-Boy because of some unique features it had, but it was not available locally. I tried out a Craftsman with a new bagging system, but the bag was too amall, it was awkward to empty, and it did not have a good seal against the mower. So I returned it and tried out a Honda with a new bagging system. Unfortunately, it had the same problems as the Craftsman, but more grass dust because it cuts the grass up so small. (It would probably be a great choice if you mulch.)
So I reluctantly ordered the Lawn-Boy over the Internet. Boy, am I glad I did! It was delivered completely assembled in 4 days, and I put the oil and gas in and it cranked on the second pull. The bagging system is the best I have ever had on any mower. It is easy to remove and replace with one hand (without having to switch hands to get it out from under the handle), it is easy to empty, and it has a large capacity and a good seal to the mower, so you don't get a lot of grass dust blown up in your face.
The self-propel control is easy to get used to. The mower was too slow for me, but I actually read the manual and found out how to adjust the speed. And the feature to stow the handle is something every mower should have - one click with your foot to stow the handle straight up, and a second click with your foot to fold it all the way over.
I know Consumer Reports criticised the reliability of Lawn-Boys, but I haven't had any problems yet. I know you can get a good or bad sample in any product you buy, so I am hoping for the best.
This is the best mower for bagging grass that I have ever had!

Summary: Minor initial issues, but looks like a winner 2008-07-03
Comment: Arrived with part of the Sens-a-Speed mechanism (widget on the handle) in pieces, I called Lawn-boy customer service who directed me to a web page that contained enough information to reassemble the mechanism. After I explained the problem to the customer service rep she asked if I bought the mower from Amazon and commented that it would be a good idea if instructions were included. In retrospect I should have asked if this is a common problem.
Priming. It took a lot more than the recommended 3 pushes of primer to start the engine for the first time. Subsequent starts were easy.
Light (compared to my old Toro), easy to maneuver, looks like a winner.

Summary: PERFECT Lawn Mower For Pregnant Ladies! 2008-06-30
Comment: My husband bought this mower last year after much research. I felt it had a cheap plastic feel to it, but he insisted it would be a good one and took over the job of mowing the lawn. This year that responsibility seems to have fallen on me and my 12 year old daughter and I cannot say enough great things about this mower!!!
I am currently 8 months pregnant and this mower is a breeze to use. In my current physical state, it is easier to mow my lawn with this Lawn Boy, than it is to vacuum my house. It is also extremely easy for my 12 year old to use as well. Neither one of us have any difficulty maneuvering around and under shrubs, trees and even the dreaded swing set.
I have to disagree with other posts that this has a heavy feel to it. We find it lighter than any other mower we have owned. We love that it only goes as fast as the user wants to walk.
We occasionally tend to let our lawn get a little too long in between mowings, but this thing almost acts as a swather, mowing over long grass with ease.
The mulcher is fabulous. Our previous Toro would leave a lot of mulching junk that would stick to everything that walked over it. The mulcher on this baby hardly leaves anything behind.
I am a fairly pessimistic person, but I honestly cannot come up with one complaint for this mower. I highly recommend it, which is why I felt it necessary to write a review.
