Summary: Amazing garden tool 2008-07-21
Comment: It's amazing that so much power can come from a device so small. Very easy to use; saves your back! I didn't find that the cord management system was necessary. Very pleased.

Summary: Awesome! 2008-07-19
Comment: We bought this as a father's day present. He LOVES it. It has saved him hours and hours of digging to prepare the garden. The only problem he has had is it overheating when used long periods of time.

Summary: A good gardening companion 2008-06-30
Comment: I bought it for a month now and love it.
It's powerful and quiet. I've used it to till, remove weeds and dig holes for planting.
The kick stand was a pain in the ... to install. Mantis should redesign it or perhaps it should come pre-attached to the handles.

Summary: OUTSTANDING 2008-06-27
Comment: I purchased this with the hope of eliminating the neighborhood kid I had taking 6 hours to plant 4 plants @ $10.00/hr. He wanted $15!! I received the tiller and watched the dvd (a must) and put it together - not hard to do if you watch the dvd. Took me about 20 minutes to put together. Then I realized I didn't put on the kick stand yet but that was easy too and the kick stand is a great asset!! Had the tiller outside within an hour! I was a bit worried that it wouldn't perform as it did in the videos online but I was proven wrong real fast! The tiller tore into the ground with ease and I had perfect planting soil in no time. It's 20lb. weight allows even me to use and I have a bad back. And it is quiet as stated. My nosey neighbor had no clue I was working outside until he saw me!! No more neighborhood kid ripping me off! I do it myself with my mantis tiller!! I do think they should include the Tine Detangler with the tiller. I highly recommend this product.

Summary: Perfect 2008-06-20
Comment: This tiller has plenty of power to tear up even my tough sod and get the job done. Its light weight and easy to carry. I'm a short, 53 year old woman and I can use it easily for my garden and yard. You will need a good grip and a secure stance to be prepared for the strength of it's pull when you switch it on the first time. It has made setting up my garden plot so much easier this year.
I do recommend clearing off the tangle of weeds/roots/sod if you can. Definitely cut your weeds/grass as short as possible before tilling to make it easier. The weeds/roots do get packed around the tines especially if sod is damp or wet. I did have to stop now and again to clear the tines, but they are easy to remove and replace right there in the yard. Once the sod was broken up it churned up the ground very nicely. I have a very hard and rocky soil and this tiller has had no problems.
