Product Review
Amazon.com Review

Keep sidewalks, doorstops, and driveways safe with Murray's single-staged snow thrower. The 12-amp engine covers 20 inches of ground space, and easily hooks into outdoor electrical outlets via a heavy-duty, grounded plug. Since it's electric, this snow thrower also eliminates the need for oil or gasoline, preventing air pollution from exhaust. A remote snow chute rotates up to 190 degrees to jettison snow far from walkways. The rubber-coated auger attaches to concrete or solid ground, moving the snow thrower forward while providing traction. A push bar on the handle activates propelling; in the event of an emergency, release the bar to stop movement. This snow thrower measures 26 by 22-4/5 by 26 inches, weighs 53 pounds, and is covered by a two-year, limited warranty. --Jessica Reuling

Summary: Electric snow blower 2007-02-18
Comment: I bought this snow blower a little over 5 years ago. After years of fooling around with unreliable gas blowers, it's nice to just plug in and go1.I haven't had any problems yet. This was a great investment.Sorry to hear some have had bad luck.Joe.

Summary: Don't waste your money. 2007-01-21
Comment: We get very little snow, maybe one or two significant snowfalls per year, so I opted for the electric. Bad idea. Used it twice the first year ok. A fair bit of snow would always come out the front of the unit and land on the side you had just cleared - frustrating. The second year the motor started slowing on the first job and then stopped and smelled like it was burning. The motor is supposed to have thermal shutoff protection but that never seemed to work. I let it cool off and got it to start again by spinning the motor by hand - real convenient! It stopped again and smelled like it was burning again. Can't get it restarted. Checked on repalcing the motor and the spare part is more than the unit itself was. Rip off! To the garbage it goes.

Summary: Okay for an electric one! 2006-02-08
Comment: I was not to impressed with this snow blower, I bought this one because I have like maybe 100 ft of sidewak I need to clear - well I quickly got the hang of not running over the cord for the machine but I just was not happy with how far the snow was blown it was like a foot maybe, so by time I get to the other side, I have all the snow and guess what it is too much for the snow blower! AHH.... You live and learn!

Summary: Broken within a couple of weeks 2005-02-26
Comment: Didn't expect a lot of power, but this hardly threw snow 5 feet. I got more power out of my Murray bikes I rode when I was a kid.

I quickly got used to avoiding the power cord, but after three uses, it slowed down and eventually stopped working altogether. I took it apart a bit, but I couldn't figure out what was wrong besides a damaged motor. There is a 30-day "Normal Wear Parts" Guarantee, so I'll have to check that out.

UPDATE: Had to have the electric motor replaced, luckily under warranty, because the repair was more than the original price I paid. It took about 10 weeks to get it repaired, which even in New England was longer than was left in winter. So I placed it in my garage to await for the summer tag sale season.
