Amazon.com Product Description
The Poulan Pro 18-inch 42 cc 2-cycle gas anti-vibration chainsaw features a 16-inch bar. Its anti-vibration system isolates the engine from the chassis, reducing vibration and improving comfort and safety; further safety measures are ensured by the inertia-activated chain brake, which stops rotation of the chain should kickback occur. The auto oiling system lubricates the bar and chain continually during use. The saw also features: durachrome vertical cylinder design; an improved pulley starting system; a reverse sprocket for easier chain replacement; a super clean air filtration system, and a soft touch handle. The included case keeps the saw neat and clean. This unit come fully assembled and includes a 1-year warranty.

Summary: Hard to start 2008-07-14
Comment: I do light work around the house. Had the chainsaw for 9 months. A spring in the pull mechanism unwound, so now it's off to the parts store for a replacement.
You get what you pay for. Lot's of plastic parts. I don't expect this to last more than a couple years if I start using it more.

Comment: I just threw mine away after a summer of light use. Just got tired of tinkering with it to keep it going.

Summary: Chainsaw happiness 2008-01-21
Comment: Got a reconditioned 16" Poulan 12 years ago. Made a lot of sculptures, cut down a lot of trees; died of abuse . Got a reconditioned P.Pro 18" anti-shaker last week from the Outdoor Store for 100bucks. Cut down 5- 40 foot tall trees with a breeze this week. The old saw didn't have an emergency brake( new one does ), I was hitting it unintentionally causing it to stall, sent an email to the Outdoor Store; response quick and helpful.

Summary: "PRO" It's NOT 2007-10-29
Comment: I decided to step up to a larger "Pro" chainsaw because my trusty 18 year-old Homelite 14" saw is a little small for some bigger trees. It still runs great, so I decided to keep it as a backup unit. Turned out to be a REALLY good idea.
I took the 18" Poulan Pro to my ranch to cut some trees and the starter cord pulled out and would not retract so I could start the saw. The housing is screwed on in a million places with funky torx screws (they obviously don't want you in there) so I could not spin the hub to respool the cord. I finally found a pen and shoved it throught the slots in the housing and retracted the starter cord. It pulled out again and would not retract. Re-spool, cuss, repeat. No go. 75 miles from the nearest town, and this thing was useless. Glad I had the backup.
I got back to town and took the unit back to the retail store and exchanged it, figuring I must have gotten the one bad unit. Wrong! I drove home with the replacement and opened the box. You guessed it, the cord was pulled out and you could see that the previous customer had the same problem I did- the starter cord would not retract. The retailer just put it back in stock. I got my money back and looked to see if there was another unit (that I could open and try in the store). There was one up in the rack, with a DNI (do not inventory) sticker on it, and it was in pieces. Third bad unit. The cheaper "Wild Thing" display model was torn apart on the display shelf as well. The cowling was off, so I assume that the starter cord was stuck on it, too.
So, three Poulan Pro 18" units with stuck starter cords, and one Wild Thing torn apart. Not a ringing endorsement for Poulan quality.
I recommend finding another chain saw unless you like cutting wood without the engine running.
