Summary: Beware of dead batteries 2008-07-08
Comment: Beware of dead batteries. If the batteries die while the gate is open, it stays open. There's no juice to close it. This happened twice to us although we replace the batteries every other week. We came home yesterday and found our holding tank and well completely drained because of this flaw.

It almost cost us a new pump and expensive installation.

Summary: Raindrip Electric Timers - Do NOT purchase 2007-08-24
Comment: I purchased a 2-valve Raindrip Electric timer from a retail store - had no idea Amazon carried this equipment - All the fittings leaked upon installation. The instructions clearly state that the use of a wrench should be avoided. We couldn't slow the leaks WITHOUT a wrench! We wrenched carefully....

Within 5 days of installation, an internal seal failed and flooded the unit inside - rendering it useless. This unit operated with very low water pressure - this should not have happened. I have switched to a different manufacturer and do not recommend Raindrip timers on the basis of my experience, coupled with the other reviews.

Summary: Raindrip Analog Timer R672CT 2007-08-13
Comment: Unlike other reviewers I have been pleased with this timer (R672CT). The timers have held up well for me, I have 3 in use and have only had to replace one in the past 3-4 years. I do take the timers down, clean them and put them inside during the winter...the R672c unit is the square unit...this one is lousy and will not take the elements more than a couple of months...however the R672CT unit has a plastic cover that screws on and makes the unit water tight...I would recommend these over all other types...it certainly has freed me from being a slave to my pots around our yard and pool.

Summary: crummy quality 2007-08-13
Comment: I installed a drip system this summer and have gone through 3 Raindrip timers. They are cumbersome to program (esp. the LED kind), they leak like sieves no matter how many washers and o-rings you put in and they literally fall apart after less than a month. It's too bad that with these inferior timers Raindrip has opted to tarnish what is otherwise a great line of drip irrigation products. I'm now using the Dig 9001D timers, which are easy to program and great to use, although they lack the ability to program by intervals of days. Seems that one has to trade off some feature when choosing any of these products, so I've chosen reliability over the ability to water every 3 days.

Summary: cheaply made; not very flexible 2007-07-30
Comment: The first one I bought had the buttons fall off and I could not get them back on. Its replacement leaked like a sieve. It's an example of "you get what you pay for." Other items are better; even Raindrip's own digital timer works better, although it leaks, too. And, go for the digital. You have to set the manual timers at the actual time of day, meaning if you want it to go on at 5:00 a.m. on a regular basis, you gotta get up and set it at that hour.
