Summary: Exceptional. Just bought my second one. 2008-07-26
Comment: Long ago I saw a sign in a clock shop, "When you buy quality, you only buy once". After wasting lots of money through the years on several of those not-so-cheap plastic hose reels, I decided to stop the madness and buy a quality product. This Rapid Reel product is well made, easy (socket wrench) to assemble (30 minutes), and destined to last. It is also made in the USA! I like this product so much that I recently ordered a second one. If you need a quality hose reel that won't tip and are tired of the plastic junk, I highly recommend this product!

Comment: Top notch build. Instructions that are above and beyond what you have come to expect these days. This is replacing an endless line of plastic junk. I will never buy anything else - about to order our second.

Summary: Slipping Quality 2008-05-21
Comment: Easy assembly and good instructions. However, for the price, you would expect better quality. There are some plastic parts and the unit doesn't feel as sturdy or as well made as a Rapid Reel that I purchased about 3 to 4 years ago that was all metal construction and built like a tank. The fittings were also heftier in the previous model. The quality has defintely slipped a notch or two. Still better than the plastic hose reels on the market, but a disappointment for the price and as compared to an earlier Rapid Reel. It appears that a concious decision was made to reduce manufacturing costs, which in turn, sacrificed quality.

Summary: Hose Reel That Works 2007-08-23
Comment: I have had many hose reels that are hard to turn to wind up the hose, and whose design facilitates tangling. This reel is easy to turn even for a 60 year old woman and because of its design does not tangle the hose. It is also very sturdy and seems like it will last forever. Pricey, but worth it.
