The Reliance Controls Corporation 6-circuit 30 Amp transfer switch is a complete turn-key kit with everything needed to make a professional transfer switch installation in a home or office. It is designed to enable the wiring system of the building to accept the full power of a portable generator, which can run multiple electrical appliances and devices during a power outage. Use this transfer switch for up to 7,500-watt generators equipped with NEMA L14-20 or L14-30 power outlets. The kit includes a 30A 6-circuit prewired loadside reliance transfer switch with wattmeters; 30 Amp outdoor power cord inlet box, a 30 Amp 10-foot generator power cord with L14-30 ends, and an extra L14-20 cord end for smaller generators. This unit is cUL1008 listed and is covered by a 5-year warranty.

Summary: great transfer switch 2008-11-17
Comment: This was an easy to install switch if you're comfortable working inside your breaker panel. Directions were very easy to follow. You will need to provide the 10/3 wire from the outside box to the switch. The most difficult part was finding the best path and installing the 10/3 wire from the switch to my chosen outside mounting location. Now I'm just waiting for that first ice storm to try it for real!

Comment: This is a quality product that is easy to install.The instructions and/or video are clear and easy to understand.
This kit is an outstanding value, all I needed to buy extra was my connecting wire. In my case, 10' of 10-3 with ground.
Works great and comes with a 5 year warranty.

Comment: Good product, real easy to install, works great. It took me awhile to buy one and I researched every transfer switch I could find and this one seemed to be the best both in ease of installiation and price value.

Summary: Best for the money 2008-08-28
Comment: I purchased this transfer switch along with a portable generator. The switch is well made and has all of the components needed for install. I used the remote (outside) connection so I had to purchase house wire to run from the remote location to the panel switch box - no big deal. The installation was very simple and straight forward. I already had the hardware mounted so the actual connection to the electrical panel only took about 30 minutes. I highly recommend that you watch the excellent video series on the Reliance Controls web site. It takes all the guess work out of the install. I had a professional finish the electrical connedtion. He watched the video first and was very impressed. I would highly this switch. Prior to my purchase, I checked the area stores for the switch and the Amazon price averaged $80.00 less than the store prices. All around, a very good price and excellent product. No downside to this switch.

Summary: Not expandable 2008-02-18
Comment: It's an OK product. Easy to wire, but it's not expandable. Which means I'm limited to 6 circuits (or really 5 since I hooked it up to my well pump), so if I decide to upgrade my generator some day, I guess I'll have to install a new transfer switch because this one's maxed out. I wish I had seen the GenTran product before I bought this one. I understand theirs expands with regular breakers.
