Summary: Not feeding the squirrels anymore 2008-09-18
Comment: I bought this bird feeder after researching for one that the squirrels could not wipe out the seeds everyday. This is the best non squirrel feeder!! It has worked wonderfully. The squirrels tried hopping on the top and hanging down to the seeds but it is too far for them to reach. Then they tried to sit on the spring loaded perch and the seed holes are closed off from them. Finally a bird feeder that only feeds the birds!!

Summary: It works 2008-08-13
Comment: Can't say that we even seen a squirrel try to get in this. Before, they were everywhere. It looks great in our yard and the birds love it.

Summary: SQUIRREL PROOF??? 2008-08-04
Comment: tHIS IS DEFINATELY NOT SQUIRREL PROOF. I put it out on
the pole and the next day, a sauirrel found his way up
the pole and after studying it, he found a way to not
only feed himself but also the squirrels and birds on
the ground. It may work up North but believe me we have
smaller but mightier squirrels in Florida. They not only
get the food out but they broke the one side of the feeder. Now they can just help themselves.
I DEFINATELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FEEDER

Summary: Don't bother 2008-07-15
Comment: Do not waste your money on this product. The feeder was designed by someone, who is unfamiliar with bird anatomy. Poorly constructed in China; what a surprise. No box, tags, instructions or manufacturer's name on the product. Arrived in ONLY three pieces, which were difficult to assemble (poor design). The perches are adjustable, but which setting for which beast? They are supposedly adjustable for different birds. That must mean smaller than a buzzard or buzzard-sized. The springs are too stiff to adjust for finch (1 oz.), and preclude jay (4 oz.). The squirrels have found the perches to be quite convenient. The ports are uncovered, so seeds are exposed to rain and snow. The top cover does not fit well. I would not have purchased this feeder, had I seen it first. And further, I would have returned the feeder, but was unable to disconnect the handle.

Summary: terrific for the price 2008-06-10
Comment: I've had this for about a month, and it's great. I live on the edge of some woods, and the squirrels are unbelievable -- but they have all but given up trying to get into this feeder. I've tried other squirrel-proof feeders and a variety of baffles, but they've always gotten around them within a few days. There's nowhere for a squirrel to perch to do its usual shenanigans of chewing through something or lifting its weight to defeat the spring -- it can hang onto the lever, but there's nothing it can do from there other than try to stretch around to the other side (it doesn't work). The length of the feeder and the smooth sides keeps them from hanging off the top to get seed. The lid locks onto the handle.
I had trouble at first with grackles and doves, but loosening the spring got rid of them.
My only complaint, and this has been a problem with a few things I've gotten from Amazon lately, is the lack of assembly and use instructions.
