Summary: Not Bad, But.... 2008-01-05
Comment: On the plus side, these planters arrived fully assembled. They are solidly built, extremely handsome and an exeptional value for the price. I recall paying 40$ for wood planters last summer, apiece.
On the areas for improvement, instructions came with the planters to go to the Amazon site to learn about care and maintenance. Alas, there were none. Perusing other Strathwood product feedback revealed an annual application of teak oil is required to maintain they're appearance. Most troubling was the warning that the stain sheds itself in the rain and can stain your patio. I bought these to go on, you guessed it, a new bluestone patio. So, either a marine based urethane sealer is in order, but I'll probably paint them white.
The planters arrived a shade significantly lighter than what is pictured.
All in all, still a value compared to what you'd pay in a garden center and I'd recommend them, provided your aware of the drawbacks. Strathwood needs enhanced quality control and a bit more truth in advertising.
