Summary: Great unit, has what you need.; better than wireless model 2008-04-03
Comment: This is a perfect unit for home use. Here's why:
- It uses a wired remote sensor instead of wireless; yes, that's an advantage unless you live in areas that never get below freezing. The batteries in the wireless unit can fail in freezing temps. You can fish the wires for the remote through a window or just drill a small hole through the wall behind wherever you mount the unit. The wire is long enough to place the sensor wherever you want.
- It gives min and max temp readings, and you can reset them by merely pressing a button. The older version required you to pop out the batteries in order to reset the min/max. Yikes.
- You can customize the display, and the numbers are big enough to read across the room.
- You can mount it on the wall or just set it on the window sill.
- Uses standard batteries, cheap and long-lasting.
All that for less than a sawbuck. If you want something that tells you the phase of the moon, or the tides on Jupiter, this won't do it. Do you really care? Seriously, look outside, see if it's raining or snowing, check the temp on this guy, and you're set to go.
Now, we wait to see how long this thing keeps working.
