Product Description
May Be Used With Wood Chunks Or Charcoal Durable Aluminized Steel Holders Make Indirect Cooking Convenient For Use On 22-1/2-In. Kettles Pair Of Holders Fill these briquet holders with charcoal or wood chunks when using the indirect cooking method on your 22-1/2-In. kettle grill. Made of durable aluminized steel to last for years to come. Amazon.com Review
Indirect cooking is the method of choice for larger cuts of meat such as ribs, roasts, whole chickens, or delicate foods like some types of fish. However, arranging hot coals evenly around the outside of a grill can prove messy, difficult, and even dangerous. This pair of fuel holders solves the problem by holding charcoal or wood chunks firmly in place, allowing you to place a pan in the center of the grill to capture drippings and prevent flare-ups. Heat from the two holders rises, reflects off the inside of the grill, and cooks slowly and evenly from all sides, much like a convection oven but with the improved texture and flavor of barbecue. Made from aluminized steel for exceptional durability, these fuel holders fit 22-1/2-inch kettle-style grills, including Weber's One Touch and Master Touch series. --Mary Park

Summary: Pretty Cool 2008-05-03
Comment: I like this little fuel basket set. It keeps the coals together when you want to create a two-zone fire. I have used this product about 6 times now. The only small con I find is that the lit coals near the ends don't hold their heat and are usually the first coals to die out. The coals in the center usually last (stay lit & hot)as they normally do. I use a Weber chimney to light my coals... and they burn bright red and then white hot before I dump them into these baskets. I would recommend these mostly to the grill-master who has it all. I find them worth the small cost I spent for them and as I said they work - just have to monitor your coals a little more than you may normally do. Great gift idea though.

Summary: Worth every penny 2008-04-28
Comment: I am an avid Weber griller. I have always used tinfoil to seperate the coals for in-direct grilling until I bought this. I love them. They are easy to use and mess free. I pour the coals right into them and light 'em. I now in-direct grill burgers, chicken, steaks, and fish. Then move them directly over these coal holders for the finishing touch. Easy, Clean, and dummy proof!!!!!

Summary: Very Hot 2007-12-30
Comment: I have had Weber grills most of my adult life and can't be without one. I cook mostly with the indirect method. In the past I have used the (2) wire rack brackets to keep the charcoal along the side of the kettle and works great. I tried the new basket type and they also work great, but man do they burn hotter. 14lb.Turkeys cook a good 45-60 minutes faster and you don't have to reload the charcoal. You had better cover with aluminum foil right off the get-go or it gets to brown. This is probably because the charcoal sets up higher when the baskets are used and the airflow causes the charcoal to burn hotter. I recommend them but it takes some getting used to. Don't forget that meat thermometer.

Summary: Heat me up! 2007-12-26
Comment: A set of these is included with the Weber Performer grill.
They do a great job of holding the coals at just the right depth. They allow starting all the coals together, then separating them for indirect cooking in the center of the grill. Usually I put my two together in the center and leave them there, using the edges of the grill for items that I don't want to put over the direct heat of the coals.
One thing to look out for is excessive build-up of little charcoal bits (like those found on the bottom of the charcoal bag) and old ash. Too much of that and the airflow will be reduced to the point where the charcoal may not light. It is pretty easy to grab them with the tongs before starting and shake them. This makes any loose ash fall out of them and will help keep the air channels clear for the fire.

Summary: excellent product for pork roast on rotisserie. 2007-12-26
Comment: The ease of using this product with my grill is above excellent for Whole Pork Loin on the rotiserrie. I will not be able to use it for New Years, since True Value did not ship it as Amazone sent me an e-mail that they shipped it on the 20th. I love all products that I received from Amazon, however I can assure you that I will never purchase anything from Amazon again because you shipping business and reviews stink.
