Product Description
In 1835 Samuel Bewley and his son Charles Bewley imported nearly 3,000 chests of tea from China. It's doubtful that either Samuel or Charles foresaw the effect this beginning would have on the fabric of Dublin life. In 1840 Bewley's, the company, was formed and by 1870 Samuel's other sons Joshua and Thomas, had expanded into sugar refining and bakery manufacturing. Then in 1893 Joshua's son Ernest introduced coffee to the Irish public. From his premises in central Dublin, he demonstrated the art of coffee making, whilst his wife prepared freshly baked scones. The rest is history. By 1927 Bewley's had grown to include cafes, shops, bakeries and a handmade chocolate factory. Bewley's cafes became the place to meet, to relax, to enjoy good food, to think, to write. Indeed some of Ireland's most famous literary sons have succumbed to the lure of Bewley's legendary cafes. Brendan Behan, Patrick Kavanagh and James Joyce amongst others have all enjoyed the hospitality that is Bewley's. Dublin Morning Tea: With a captivating image of Dublin and the Ha'Penny Bridge on the box, this is an invigorating blend of African teas, which will ease you into your day. Contains 80 tea bags.
