Product Description
There are over 600 varieties of the tea plant, each of which is particularly suited to growing in a specific geographical region. After many failures at finding a suitable variety for the conditions in Ceylon (now called Sri Lanka), the island's first successful tea estate was established in 1840 by Sir Anthony Oliphant of the East India Company. In 1869, when the disease, "coffee rust," destroyed Ceylon's coffee estates, planters turned to tea as an alternative crop and saved the local economy. Today, Ceylon tea is world-renowned for its robust flavor and dark color. Each box contains 20 2.5g tea bags.
