Summary: Give this stuff a try! 2008-07-31
Comment: Had this served in several restraunts around the country. This particular rice is absolutely wonderful. As another reviewer pointed out, it has more of a consistency of black beans, but the flavor is quite different. The odd, purple color make it ideal for creating fantastic dishes which are a bit different. I use it as a side dish for the most part as I like it's flavor, but have used it as a bed for duck, goat, beef, rabbit and quail.

Summary: It is forbidden because it's just that good 2007-03-30
Comment: I was amazed the first time Chef Daniel Taylor served me a dish with Forbidden Black Rice at The Underground in Raleigh. It's a fantastic rice - it has the same texture as black beans. And unlike regular rice, Forbidden reheats nicely. A word of warning - be careful when cooking it cause it drips purple.
