Product Description
Choosing from over 850 of our cheeses can be a daunting task, even for the most accomplished cheese connoisseur. While we all have our traditional favorites, there is something special about discovering a great new cheese. And, the best way to experience a new cheese is to try it. For those of you looking to expand your cheese repertoire, we have crafted a four cheese sampler from four continents of some little-known gems to serve at your next get-together. This assortment includes:
  • Volendam (Europe): If you are a gouda lover, then Volendam is a must have! Inspired by the scenic Dutch fishing village of the same name, Volendam has a butterfat content of 55%, making it especially smooth and creamy. (8 oz.)
  • Hard Grana Provolone (South America): Originally from Lombardia, Italy, this cow's milk cheese was brought by Italian immigrants to Argentina. The cheese is recognized by its particular pear shape. During the aging stage, the cheese is hung (wrap and secure with a rope). This hard Provolone cheese develops a sharp, piquant flavor with age. (8 oz)
  • Great Ocean Road Cheddar (Australia): This sharp white cheddar hails from Australia, where it joins Stokes Point and Mainland Cheddar as a new favorite from down under. A buttery flavor separates this cheese from it's English inspiration. (8 oz.)
  • Atalanta Blue (North America): Atalanta is the Greek goddess of hunt, travel, and adventure. The name Atalanta is thus appropriate for this new blue cheese from Wisconsin. It's a bold , crumbly cow's milk cheese that took several years to perfect. Enjoy it crumbled over salads, stirred into sauces, or on crackers. (8 oz.)Please note that any item temporarily out of stock will be substituted with a similar item of equal or greater value.

Summary: cheese please 2010-02-11
Comment: This cheese assortment is wonderful. It's a great assortment. The blue is outstanding. It's fine for just eating with some fruit, crumbled over a salad, and I also made the best sauce to put on rib eye steaks! The provolone is like a nice Parmesan. I grated it over pasta, garlic bread, it was delicious. The cheddar was creamy and the Volendam is very tasty. Nice selection.

Summary: Will Never Do Business With Company Again 2010-02-09
Comment: The product itself was more or less satisfactory. Nothing extraordinary. Nothing elicited any "Wow this is fantastic!" type comments.

However, the process of dealing with the company was absolutely atrocious and so far they have not even responded to multiple emails.

Order was placed on the 16th. Delivery was promised between the 18th and 23rd with a cost of 7.99 freight. The item page STILL quotes 7.99 freight.

The order did not even ship until the 26th which of course is past Christmas so it ruined the "Gift" part of it.

Then they charged $13.99 freight to my Credit Card.

I've sent 2 seperate emails asking for details and they haven't responded to either.

All in all, a horrible company to deal with. I cannot recommend them at all.

Summary: Cheese Freaks 2009-12-28
Comment: My husband and I absolutely love cheese, and this was a inexpensive way to sample various cheeses, without committing to a large purchase. Wonderful appearance and flavor. The Atlanta Creamy Blue and Red Leaf Cheddar was by far our favorites. I have since ordered several more sampler packages, as well as single cheeses.

Summary: igourmet is a rip off 2009-12-27
Comment: Avoid IGourmet like the plague. I ordered an item on Dec. 18 as a Christmas gift. I was charged $14 shipping for a $19 item. It wasn't even shipped until Dec. 26. Igourmet gave me the run-around in the mean time. I would have had plenty of time to have another item shipped on Amazon or send a gift card to get there by Dec. 24. In my opinion, Amazon should drop Igourmet. This company is going to make Amazon look bad. After my experience, I have second thoughts about using any Amazon vendor ever again.

Summary: Delivered half of the order 2009-12-24
Comment: I ordered this item on Dec. 17. It was delivered on the 24th. I only received 3 of the four cheeses promised. My emails went unanswered when I inquired about the delivery date. My phone call to ask about the missing cheese went to voicemail. I will not do business with a company that takes that long to send the item (expidited shipping) and that delivers 3/4 of my order. I should have paid heed to the negative reviews I read about this company.
