Product Description
The ensaimada is one of the most popular pastries in Spain. It originates from the island of Mallorca, where only a few commissioned shops remain to bake the original recipe. Almost like a soft, white pastry, with a thin flaky crust, it is shaped into a flat coil and dusted with powdered sugar. The ensaimada comes in various sizes, with small ones being served for breakfast with hot chocolate or coffee, and very large ones for dessert. Today, the ensaimada has several versions and can be found not just in Spain, but in other Spanish-influenced countries as well. Our recipe uses European style butter and lots of egg yolks. After 15 hours, the result is a very soft, light and golden bread.
