Summary: B & D Food Steamer 2008-08-25
Comment: Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of this product. I use this product up to 10 times in the average week. This is the 2nd B & D Food Steamer I have had. I had the previous one since 1992 and LOVED it. The element gave out so I replaced with the updated version hoping I could use the basket, bowl and lid from the old version and I can. A bonus is that the basket is larger on the new unit, so I can stack them and steam two different things at once if I want to. The only things I would change are that I wouldn't use white for the bowls because when I use paprika and saffron in my rice it stains (the old versions were clear and much easier to clean). I thought the old version clear lid was much more sturdy and there was more space between the bowl and basket so that when I tipped the lid up the water on top fell outside the bowl. I also miss the curly cord as it was much easier to manuever in a small kitchen and I didn't have to worry about it falling into the sink.

Summary: My favorite kitchen appliance. 2008-07-30
Comment: I can't say enough positive things about this steamer. It works great, and is easy to clean. I use it daily to cook for our family and used it more than ever this year to steam fruits and veggies for our new baby.
I never use ANY of the extra baskets or attachments and recommend getting whichever model offers the fewest as the large steamer basket is really all you need.
My favorite thing about using this electric steamer is that you can prep your veggies way in advance, and just turn it on 10 minutes or so before the rest of the meal is ready. It has a built in timer that turns the machine off so if you forget it, it turns itself off and your veggies are waiting for you later, perfectly steamed.
Love it, love it, love it.

Comment: This steamer is awesome. Perfect rice every time. Veggies are great also. Only downside, it can be bit messy, and a lot of pieces to clean.

Comment: I love using this product. I'm still wondering why this is difficult to find in stores. I'm lucky to have browsed around online, done some research, and come across this fantastic rice cooker & steamer.

Summary: Steamer Failure 2008-06-30
Comment: After using this steamer for asparagus exactly 3 times (it worked fine), the fourth time it would turn on, but then about 10 to 30 seconds later just shut off. Also, the timer device seemed laborious, having to count back from the 45 minutes - or choose an item that very generically matches your item (like 'vegetables'). Do I need to say I don't recommend this steamer to anyone!
