Summary: coffee maker performance 2008-10-10
Comment: Disappointed in how well the coffee maker operates. Have had 3 other black and decker coffee pots and they all three worked wonderful. This one is not working as well. All the water does not empty into the pot..always some is left that does not go through. Never have had this problem before...

Summary: Too bad it didn't work 2008-09-18
Comment: The coffeemaker was exactally what we wanted to replace a dated unit that stopped working after 10 years. It was great that Amazon, a site we trust and do buisness with, had it.
Too bad the machine arrived after having already been opened and retaped. We tried it, and sure enough it did not work.
It's a shame that a great company like Amazon would allow this to happen. Kudos to them for allowing the immetiate return of the machine. As of yet, we have not recieved confirmation that our credit card was not charged. If that works out honestly, we'll stay with Amazon, but for now, just for books.

Summary: Problem solved? 2008-09-14
Comment: After reading the reviews, I decided not to take any chances. I removed the spring and lever which activated the "sneak-a-cup" feature. Imagine my surprise when I heard my husband call from the kitchen, "Elaine, you'd better come here, and bring a towel!" Coffee was all over the counter and the floor. Then I realized what I had done. I had turned on the coffee maker without emptying the carafe of yesterday's leftover coffee! Because this is a black unit, and because I was half asleep when I prepared the unit for the morning coffee, I could not readily see the remaining coffee in the carafe. Of course it overflowed. Could this be the cause of so many overflow disasters? I believe it could be. There are a few DROPS of water on the counter after each brewing due to condensation - that's all.
The only thing I would improve on this unit is its height. When installed, there is only a three-inch space between the coffee maker and the countertop, so it really isn't a "spacesaver."
My old Black & Decker Spacesaver Coffee Maker has lasted over six years. I replaced it with this black unit to match the other appliances, not because it had stopped working. If this new unit lasts half this long, I'll be satisfied.
